Mate Dave from work had his white R35 GTR stolen from the Rio Tinto Sunday night (Perth Airport area)

Cant remember the rego but he was an entrant in Racewars. So pretty sure there are some pics of it there with the rego on it.

Excellent, any details?

Major damage? I heard when it was stolen they drove it over the curbs to get out of our carpark.

Fuck me. So much for a secure car park.

How do you start something like that without keys!

Trecool, get onto Kellie Parker she is the OC Gm and should make things happen footage wise. There are cameras fucking everywhere but who knows how long the footage is retained for.

Not sure if it is the same one but saw a white one constantly giving it shit on Sunday night around Malaga (Beach Rd and Alexander Drv) around 11pm-12am, kept fanging it around and attempting to get it sideways, pretty sure he was picking up high speeds on the straight cause I could hear him from a distance still giving it shit.

Surely there would have been at least 10 SS utes between the terminal and the OC building.. sif you'd walk that far for a japper.. those beats by Dre head phones are heavy to carry.

Seriously though was it found with keys in it?

Yeah as above Car has been found. Was seen around Malaga so prob same car that Viet_Boy saw. Dave was saying tonight that they used the token in his owners manual and a laptop to program a key. Car has some slight spoiler damage and gutter rash on the rims. He is back driving it.

Car was found as it was parked in a private car spot, Man and Lady recognised the car and posts on Facebook. Immediately boxed the GTR in the car park. A Magna was identified scoping out the car park and individuals scoping out car. Police called car recovered and details of Magna given to Police.
Besides a heap of stress dave got a tank of fuel for free (dickhead theif filled it up at malaga caltex) and packet of smokes.

Can anyone shed anymore light on using a token to program a key? They had obviously already gained access by this stage.

Good news that he has it back.

Dave was saying tonight that they used the token in his owners manual and a laptop to program a key.

This is impressive if true. I take it he left the owners manual in the car then?
Just on that basis he would need a Nissan GTR key, a set of very good software and some decent know-how. Remembering that the GTR keys are wireless/very sensitive... to the point JAP owners (in AUS) have had no luck making new keys - as far as I was aware - and had to request new keys from Japan.

Who doesn't leave the owners manual in the car?

From what I gather no windows where broken, so they would have first had to get into the car without setting off alarm to get the token.
I am going to say the owners manual wasn't in the car.

So clearly professionals. I thought that when going to that much effort they already had a buyer for the car or it would be stripped straight away and sent away to wherever.

I don't understand why it was left sitting in the CBD.

Regardless great news that it has been found.

Hi yeah cant answer the questions above guys, Dave will be in tonight so ill ask. Dave did say it was a laptop with Nissan software installed??? Not sure guys but My wife's dad has a GTR so you can imagine the conversations we had as apparently he has been followed home several times. He has his garage alarmed and security response when activated so bit more of a deterrent.

However I expected the same Dave's car gone and stripped or turning up in a few weeks in Dubai. But yeah agreed good result he got it back.

Drives allright for a car that went over kurbs, not even the undertrays were scratched!

Pulled it down today, they defo gave it a fang but it was set to 1bar and they didnt know how to change it back so it didnt hurt motor.

Something very sus going on, yes the token was in the car, and yes if you had a Aus consult 3 you could code a blank keyfob from it......... Buuuuut you have to get into the car, without damaging the car, and then sit there in the car for some time before you can fire it. They unlocked it without damage........ and then locked it again where it was parked....

Like others have said.. Why would you go to that much trouble to steal a car, and not move it on as quick as possible?
Now that it has been recovered, they're leaving behind a huge amount of evidence of how it was done in the first place.

What can R35 owners do to prevent this type of theft or unlawful entering of their vehicle?

Tre-Cool

I bet Nissan would also be interested to know how they did it too?

Could be a job in it for someone if it takes a them a few weeks to do a key and $500. They wont like the competition.

on a serious note, can someone explain to me what this "token" thing does or is?

Or the spare key from his house while he was away?

Something simply doesn't seem right with this.... :/ As others have said, all that effort just to park it up in the CBD - not to mention smoko break at the servo! Doesn't exactly scream "professionals", but the way it was stolen does. Guessing they've been shown how to do it by somebody in the business with the knowhow, or two guys took it, one with a brain, the other slightly more dominant without one :P
Glad it's back, and relatively unharmed. Too many nice cars like this going walkabout lately.

And why the hoon laws are a joke that concerned citizen A. can show footage of someone that is enough to get their car taken off them when the thuckers cant even do real police work such as catching people that STEAL petrol (with evidence) or catch people that have abused/ stolen from others, but have some footage of a squeal of the tyres or what ever and that's it...

Wonder how easy it would be to manipulate the footage and add in squeeling tyre sound to citizen A. and see if they like their car impounded.lol.

Sheer amount of effort cops are spending lately on catching drivers using mobile phones is a joke too, sting operations etc.

How is it possible to go purely off someone else's submitted footage?
If that's true I really hope he fights this.
I still don't understand how hoon laws can be valid, isn't it effectively sentencing someone with out a trial and completely bypassing the courts?

Its seems most of the WAPOL pages are run by juniors or something. I have had numerous comments deleted after pointing out their comments were incorrect and supply correct info to back up my comments. I'm still trying to figure out how the hell they got a key coded.

R35's usually require a 20 digit rolling pin to be decrypted (this pin will change each and every time you turn the ignition on and off). To retrieve a decrypted PIN you would usually have to contact Nissan's "techline". The only way techline can be contacted is with a dealers details. From there techline contact Nissan Japan for the correct PIN for registration mode Initialisation.

I really can't see any other way the person has coded a key without the decrypted rolling pin.

Just thought to give you guys an update. It’s been awhile.

So two people have been arrested for stealing my car, DNA was used to identify them. The police already had a big case against these people and this was something extra the police could charge them with. The person driving the car was asked how he got it. He said he picked up the car on great eastern high way. He claims he was given a key by a woman by the name of Sara. He was also flashed by a speed camera near Burswood with a nice photo of his face that added more proof he stole it. From what the police say he wouldn't be smart enough to use a laptop or scanner to make up a key so I think there was a lot more people involved. So did they make up a key? I'm not so sure on that as it’s very hard to do. Maybe there was another key floating about and it was a simple case of going to the car park and driving off. Who knows but I was lucky there was no real damage to the car and it was picked up quickly.

In my case, after being found not guilty of reckless (+45km over) I was refunded impound costs 6 or 8 months later via an unexpected cheque in the mail.

I had my impound costs refunded to me too. I actually had someone ring me up a few weeks after my court case and they gave me an email address to send my bank account details to. After about a week I had the money in my account.
I still think it's completely completely wrong that they can impound a car before having the case heard in court. It's also unfair how they only give you a refund of your impound costs after you prove that you're not guilty. What about the damages and inconvenience of not having a car for a month??

On the surface it seems wrong that they can punish people before an actual conviction.

His lawyers argued that police did not have authority to punish offenders - and this was the responsibility of courts.

Chief Justice Kourakis yesterday ruled in favour of Mr Bell, saying the anti-hoon legislation took away the discretion of the courts and applied a double punishment to drink-drivers, who would lose their licences and be fined by magistrates.
