Hello,

In my apartment I've only got the option of electric water heating and the current system is a Wilson super x instantaneous unit. It can make scalding hot water all day but you can never get the water at a nice temp. Either you add more cold and you hear the unit click on or off giving you ice water or boiling water out of the shower. According to the unit it has a temp overload which may also be getting triggered. It's making me go bonkers.

Could it be a pressure problem and I need a pump or something?
Any hot water gurus have anything I could try?

Other than that I think I'll have to find a new system, and due to the cupboard dimensions it would have to be another instantaneous unit or a small 50ltr as the diameter of the tank would only just fit inside the cupboard

Cheers,

Michael

If it's not easily fixable, I've got a brand-new super x instantaneous system you could have for $100.

Mine started leaking like frog's arse about 4 weeks after buying my house, so I bought one to replace it, only to find about 2 weeks later that there was a unit in the shed that came with the house. Unit itself is a couple of years old judging by the amount of dust on the box, but it's never been taken out of the box let alone installed/used.

But yours works sweet?

What shower head do you have?

does it have a "water saving" type head on it? cause it could be the water saving do dad in the shower head itself! we had an electric system and it would do the same thing, not keep temp and click on off when you played with the taps, pulled the heap off and pulled out the little red plastic restrictor, all good after that

I'll have a look. I've had a huge rain head type, one on a hose to change the water flow option

My Dad has been a plumber for 40 years, he has taken those small instantaneous units out before and he said it could have a faulty thermostat. However, if it is relatively old you might be best off to just replace the whole thing depending on what you want to spend/space provisions, he recommends replacing the instantaneous unit with a 50L cylinder heater if possible.

+1 to taking out the shower head restrictor.

Thanks for the feedback.
Did a quick YouTube search of restrictor removal and grabbed my spare rain head one, found the prick and bashed it out. Problem solved! Cheap fix ahah

Very happy!
