First off, sorry if this is in the wrong session

I have just personally imported my Evo 9 GT from the UK which was imported from Japan as its a Jap only car. It went over the pits last week and failed on a couple off small things, most off which I can sort out pretty quickly. Although one off the things it failed on was there was no o2 sensor after the cat, now I know the Oz Evo 9 comes with one but the Jap Evo and even the Evos that where sold in the UK never came with them. I know there are jap imported evo owners on this forum and was wondering if they had this problem. Worst comes to worst, ill drill a hole, put one in and run wires up through the floor and just leave them there so it looks like it has one but does anyone know if there are any ways I can get round it cause my car never had one to start with.

Would the UK-imported version be subject to the same regulations as the Japanese? I would think so.
The post-Cat sensor sounds like a nice-to-have to determine when to replace it.

No its not a requirement in the UK hence why all the Evos in the UK dont have them from standard. I never ran a cat in the UK either, had a decat pipe although now I have a high flow cat in it as I know how strick they are here about it.

I am pretty sure as a personal import (as in you owned the car in the uk for a year and brought it across when you moved here) all that you have to meet is the safety regs it is even quite easy to get silly mods passed
I thought you only had to comply to the emmision regs if it was imported to be sold

Yeah thats what I heard as well and I asked Tokyo Motorsport about it and they though it something similar. Saying that they didnt say anything about the full AP Racing brakes, Ohlin coilovers, carbon roof and a shit load off other very notable mods but then pick out the o2 sensor as a problem
