Pondering away at some thoughts recently. The two posts that got closed recently where neons were not in and skids just weren't skids, when is teasing or taking the piss too far?

When does/do/will it go wrong? You see the Today Tonights school yard bullying and the after school fights (in my day is was with knifes and taping compasses to your wood ruler for extra reach) that seem to go on. Is it worse with Digital Media or is it just captured more frequently due to Digital Media?

Anyway back at band camp, back in the mid 80's (I spent a few months at Northlake Senior High School with a couple of years at Hami Hill) at Northlake, there was a kid teasing this chick. She was nothing out of the ordinary and I was a new kid at the school. Minding my own business as the old boy always taught me.

Walking down the breezeway this kid really starts on the chick. So I check it out. Not sure whats going on but he's hooking into her. Names - the usual. She mentions a few times if he doesn't stop "Harry will be here and sort you out".

Anyway this dude just starts being a nasty pasty and cranks the level of verbal teasing. I didn't think it was too harsh but other kids jumped in.

Harry gets mentioned once more and I'm over it and move on.

Next day dude in the breezeway this dude asks for tough Harry so he can 'punch him out'. Out of no where this chick pulls out a pair of old school steel scissors and says meet Harry. Stabs him fair in the neck! Blood everywhere. She had a pet scissors name Harry.

So - when does/do/will it go wrong?

Not directed at you though of course, but on this same forum we have members sharing their personal issues and there is a hell of a lot of support and exposure in the past for promoting mental health issues and not to keep it in but to seek help wherever and whenever possible. It seems that this doesn't apply to outsiders or newcomers though.

For anyone that has or does live with a person with a mental health history you will know what a fine line it can be.

In keeping with the OP, the difference IMO is it's much easier to jump on the bandwagon nowadays when all you have to do is click "like" or add a scathing comment with a few jabs at the keyboard. In the past you were there in person and risked a punch in mouth or a pair of scissors in the neck!

I was bullied in Year 7 & 8 by a guy a year above me, why I didn't know expect maybe I was the new guy. He stopped after I knocked him on his hole on the bus on the way to school. If you want it to stop you actually have to do something, some way, not just by telling people to stop. Doesn't have to always be violence because it can make things even worse, especially since every 2nd bloke is an MMA fighter these days

The problem with Forums and Facebook is "the group of men" are no more better than the pack hunter pingpingpingpings I deal with at times at concerts etc. They won't say boo on their own but put them together and they'll have a go.

This to me- is display of the biggest coward.

I copped shit in highschool for having a redish tinge to my hair ( not full blown red ) more brown and having a bit of a gut . Usually i used to just let it all slide , had a particular bad 3 weeks to month family problems etc , a rumor got around from another school that apparently I killed this guys cat ??( I didnt just a disgruntled neighbour kid ) anyway most people left me alone after that except this one arrogant smart ass , so I told him for about 1 week to just under 2 " look man just fuck of dont really want to have to deal with shit from you aswell at the moment " . Anyway one day he was just on the ball coming out with all kinds of things , was in wood work , ignoring him warned him about 3-5 times to fuck of , snapped metal ruler in my hand choped at the side of his face , pingpingpingpings left me alone then .

moral of the story and something iv learned a little since growing up , 1. You never know someone elses situation so if they say back the fuck of you do it . 2 . Its fine to have a joke but learn the line .

1: Picked on for things that are beyond your control ie: hair colour, weight, head shape, families economical status, mental issues

Not everyone has opportunities in life that are a given to some. In some cases beyond their control or even worse beyond their control at a stage in life where they havent had the opportunity for self development. If it helps one get through so be it. It would take more effort to man up to this, than ignore the potential problems or consequences from subsequent negative action.

I've never had the need for such help, and if I ever did, I hope I'm man enough to do this "thing".
