I know the feeling and totally agree, been looking for something part time/casual for the last couple of weeks to do while I'm studying so I don't bite too much out of my savings. Had absolutely no luck, not one interview let alone a call back. My experience is only as a pastry chef really and trying to get out of it altogether, but have had a few physical/manual labour sort of roles so looking for something like that. I've even applied for jobs looking for an immediate start and even short term (2-4 weeks) roles that fit the physical description but still nothing. Just thinking to how many people don't want to work and are happy picking up the dole, I'm ready to start straight away because I can study around any work hours because it's an online delivery course I'm doing but not even that helps. Thinking it's a bit harder because it's coming up to Christmas but I still would have thought I'd pick something up easily enough, not happening yet

Emails and phone calls are not enough. To be remembered you need to rock up in person and talk to the person who does the hiring.

Make a list of all the places you want to try and get some work in, just rock up and say hello.

Aus Post's mail center at the airport (and welshpool IIRC) usually puts a buttload of casuals on for the leadup to xmas (days/arvos/nights).
Fairly boring light/medium labor work for half decent cash.

I'm at the Woolworth's DC near the airport and they are hiring a lot of people now because it getting pretty busy leading up to Christmas. If you don't mind some physical labour you could jump on seek and apply, the job is basically picking boxes and the casual rate is $29 an hour.

Thanks for the post's guys, I've worked mostly in hospitality and the construction industry inc Surveyors T/A and as a Aircons T/A I've run my own business and i'm rolling back on detailing atm for a
little bit of income but it's not enough really to get into a place back in Perth ! I've applied for industry specific areas inc Chicken Treat ffs :/ but to no avail ! I've done barista work, brekky cook, lunch, front of house, house keeping, cable running, field work, fifo for exploration ! The list goes on and on, it's just on near impossible to get work atm even though it's xmas you submit all the online crap, send in your resume, go instore, make the phone calls done it all but still no damn jobs. It's not my attitude and I'm not being overly picky for work I just need a basic income atm as I fucking hate the dole and all the rigmarol that they make you do just to get one days wage when I've paid more in taxes in a week ! Anyway enough ranting back to looking I suppose and attempting to speak to the centerlink people to get a little bit of assistance, I can't raid my folks as they have been retired for gone on 3-10 years so I need to support myself hence I WANT WORK !
