Hey guys,
I have a 355 hilux, and I don't want to keep having to replace std toyo 4cy boxes (g52's/rn85)
What housing would i need to mate up the r154
and what about the transfer case?
Am yet to find a decently priced gearbox so any help would be greatly appreciated
(am still open to a 350 turbo box or similar, but would prefer to keep the transfer box & 4x4 obviously)
ratios - I am currently running 37"s, and the ratios could be slightly smaller than what it is (further reduction gears)
Cheers for your help,
Rob

Go auto....so much better offroad
stick with the r154 path, go to locktup4x4 for some 4.7 reductions for transfer gears. as for bell housing. dellows do them and good prices
random?

Decent boxes don't come cheap, expect to pay $1600 - $2200 for a R154 depending on condition.

Pretty sure my old boy has R154 box and bellhousing to suit ... will check and let you know if you're keen.

You need a 150/151. 4runner/surf boxes. 154 is 2wd only. They have a chain drive transfer so get a gear driven transfer and an adapter from Locktup. Or get 2 and run twin transfers if you want the low gearing option.
Can get a bell housing from dellows or CRS. Pretty much everything can be done straight off the shelf these days.

Thank you for asking Cactus :)
quick update,
Bought a R151 Box, with Gear Driven transfer box, For $350, and while looking in the guys shed, found a bellhousing and fork and other bearings and bolts and stuff, that he gave me for $50
haha fuck i love gumtree.
Waiting on a Clutch & pressure plate from Ebay & should be sweet to go. (might need to weld some extra tabs onto the cross member for the slightly different g/box mounts)
With the hilux being as high as it is, I should be able to change the box, where it is - without any dramas?
Did a '05 patrol a little while back, used a telehandler as a hoist haha. My only worry is that the Driveshafts, might need to be different Lengths to mate up to the new box - I have spacers, so I'm hoping that are shorter rather than longer, thats if they are out at all :)

I've Put this bad boy up for sale, (no longer have the space or time for it!)
I can send details etc if anyone is interested
May consider selling the engine separate - rather all together tho, even if its bit cheaper because I dont have the space to pull it apart!
