hey ppl, posting for a friend:

he is wondering if its possible to fit a jap engine into a e34 1988 bmw 535i which currently has a m50 3.5lt straight six.
he will need a gearbox also so he needs to know how much everything will cost all together including the labour.
so if you do know what it will take could you kindly help and maybe make a list or everything needed and prices for this project.
cheers.

Yeah, if it was a BMW, I'd say call BM Techniks. They are in the same block as Wilko's. Andrew Prior is the man to speak to, however as it's a jap engine you want, then it opens the doors somewhat.

The big question is why?

why? because he wants the sweetness and simplicity of a jap engine and the sweet looks of his bmw... that and the fact that his gearbox in his bmw completely blown and its costing him 3grand to rebuild it, so he was wondering how much all together it would cost to do a complete transplant since it would cost him heaps to do the rebuild...

probally cost heaps both ways. what engine he want??sr20,rb2*,1jz,2jz?? cant really put prices down until he knows what he wants. Isnt there a nice bmw turbo engine nowadayz in a newer model. If you can get that in it, probally best to go in that direction...

Well a new BMW 'M' engine would probably cost a whole lot more than a 15 year old 1JZ.

bmw turbo engine is out of the question.
he is after an rb20 with a suitable gearbox.
so what do you think it would cost all up? approx?
