Need to take the wife to a "nice" restaurant as a suprise for just the 2 of us for her birthday.

She is not a fussy person (married to me) but i want something special.

She does not eat red meat

Also

I already have 2 kids so boning missus has been done and will be done alot more. So no need to impress for that

Nice as nice, or nice as in balla?

The Royal if the first. Outside table - view by the water is awesome, food is good but not drug money.

Nice as in Nice....Cost really is not an issue either. But would rather have a great meal then to have a great appetiser for a large wad of cash

Rockpool is good.

Look up 'amuse' its in east Perth fine dining, I haven't been to my booking yet but they cater the menu to suit your needs it's 7 course degustation.

C restaurant

Chez pierre
Meh...
C restraurant is over hyped, food is good and nice views... just shit seating IMO (paper table clothes WTF?)
Went to Chez pierre a few weeks ago with the inlaws, over priced, had to ask for drinks menu repeatedly, forgot to serve ordered items, tried to charge us $44 in bread that we never ordered etc etc.

Newish Italian place (Modo Mio) in the casino complex is very nice, went there with the inlaws and was impressed with food & service!

I know the head chef f's oldboy at AMUSE really well. Nice if you can get in.

For the Birthday - do this.....

Book 1907 for dinner. (in the city 26 Queen Street Opposite the car park)

Ask for a booth.

Enjoy explicit service! and food that will blow you away. Lots of it. Don't get greedy with the main.

At the end of dinner it is plausible you will get a breakfast pack as part of the meal ( when making the booking drop the hint Do you still do the little treat pack for breakfast - this is where you act surprised to the misses when you get one). It's inclusive of the meal cost.

Open pack in the morning. There will be some fresh bread, chocolates and a scone type stuff

You then fuck in the morning.

It's value for money for food, service, and the treat pack. Around $350 with high end wine.

Edit:
Has cocktail bar behind restaurant.
Beware of the horse in the foyer....
No cockheads at bar or restaurant.

Cantina in Mount Lawley

Good food, nice atmosphere, reasonably priced.

Friends - have never had a bad meal or experience there.

It's old fashioned, food is amazing and a wine list better than any other I've seen (can order just about any bottle of grange or vintage dom) and isn't over priced for what it is. (Is not cheap though)

My vote goes to Amuse but if you are looking to go soon you will probably have to settle for a weeknight because they are booked up months in advance. My mrs took me there for my birthday earlier in the year and it was epic! The servings may look tiny but after 15 or so of them I was pretty full and I usually eat a lot! Have not had better service anywhere, the chefs bring out each course and explain what it is and where its from and they will tailor the menu to suit your requirements. Fantastic atmosphere, tables are very spread apart so you don't feel like you are eating with someone else. It's worth the money.

Really? I thought it was the worst Japanese food I'd ever had - used to live around the corner.

If you're heading down that way you might as well do Suburban Table - Melbourne style with awesome hearty foods and owner run.

Red cabbage in south perth just wonr estaurant of the year fort he 2nd year in a row.

Otherwise +1 for amuse. Neither myself ort he missus eat seafood and so long as you tell them when you book it is never an issue and the provide printed menus just for you. Will cost you about $200 ea including the matched wines with each course.

Rock pool is hands down the best place i have eaten so far in perth.

Balthazar in the city is pretty balling. Some of the food you get while waiting for your entrees and mains was pretty weird. Had some jelly shot thing that tasted like red creamy soda. Was really weird but good.

Clarks of North Beach
http://www.clarkesofnorthbeach.com.au/

Its small, sometimes hard to get into, pricey but not extreme and is very well run.

The food is on par if not better than amuse, rockpool, chez pierre etc but its the service that puts it head and shoulders above the rest.

Surprisingly, it is BYO so I would recommend bringing 1 or 2 good (read $100++) bottles of wine, they will decant for you and recommend meals based on the wine you bring.

Can second the 1907 suggestion. Have taken the wife there for her birthday, get a booth, nice atmosphere, great food, nice wine, great service and they gave us a little goodie bag to take home.
Clarks of North Beach is good also.

Dining at Tsunami is best when someone drives you there whilst burning your clutch... Then followed by a fire extinguisher to the face post meal.

Shannon and Chris will agree.

If you want to take a step down from the 'first class' type restaurants in favor for a more casual (but nice) bistro setting - I highly recommend P'tite Ardoise in Highgate. http://ptiteardoisebistro.com.au/

Food/Menu is exceptional. Proper French decor/setting and French waitstaff.

Took missus there for our anniversary earlier this year, on recommendation from some 'foodie' friends. She loved it.

Only problem is that the bistro itself is small and can be booked out for a month in advance.

Swan brewery as in the Old Brewery? If so, there steak is one of the best I have had so far. My dad liked it but whinges about price, my wife thinks its OK, was going to try Rockpool next.

Clarks is bombed as is the old swan brewery. If you go there it won't cost a fortune and you'll leave impressed.

I'd still go to the Scotto but I'm not normal.

When I worked there, they had really decent food, a few times I took friends to have dinner there before I started work. I don't know what it's like now, though.

Best thing was being allowed to make pizzas after they closed for free.

Went to Wild Duck last night -food was pretty ordinary, service was fucking useless!!

Two dishes were so overcooked it wasn't funny

I asked for cracked pepper on my pork (After taking near on 10 min to get their attention) - the tosser came over, offered the missus pepper, then walked off without offering it to me and ignored my requests as he walked off - fucking snottly little pingpingpingping!

Hopefully t was a one off as the general consensus is that they are good.
