Hey,

Looking to get myself another dog, really want a husky but the size of my backyard isn't really suited for such a big dog. was doing some google and came across Miniature Husky. Does anyone know if there are any breeders in perth for these? I found one in Sydney but nothing else

Cheers

They're a Husky x Pomeranian aren't they?

Find a female Husky
Buy a step ladder
Get Tocchie's dog to do the deed
???
Profit

These have been popping up like crazy on fb lately. Even a gumtree advert in perth looking for them too

I'd love a little Pomsky

This is the breeder in Sydney, Looks like it's the only one in Australia Alaskan Klee Kai Breed. Cost is $4,000 however i am not keen on sending a puppy on a flight from Sydney to perth i don't think it would be good for it :/

Don't think you will find any in Perth Pips, best bet is to look at a Japanese Spitz (I have one), pretty similar in appearance but a longer coat.

I flew my dog over a few years ago. It's piece of piss and only costs a few hundred. Worth it if you can find a good breeder and the dog you're after. Especially if dropping a few K on the dog.

I know breeders that send pups around the world - an interstate flight won't be a big deal.

interesting i would have through being so young (8weeks) it wouldn't be a good idea. But if other have done it without an issue to the dog then looks like it might be the go

is it an easy process ? does the dog need to be in any sort of holding for a set amount of time once it arrives or because it is from over estate that isn't an issue?

No issue it comes across and you pick it up from the freight terminal when it arrives.

I wouldnt do it at 8 weeks and a good breeder shouldnt either. I think 10-11 weeks is better for flying and parental separation.

Please dont buy a design-a-dog pick a pure breed thats suitable for your situation. Breeders should be about longevity/quality of the breed not making cash cash cows of their dogs.

So easy, especially if your breeder has done it before.

They'll book with whatever company and drop the dog, in a carrier, to the depot then give you the flight details (mine came Australian Air Express). I went to the depot at the airport a bit early so the dog wasn't waiting around then he got unloaded, I signed and took him to the car.

The dog will be a bit scared when it arrives (same as taking one on a car ride home from a local breeder anyway) so I opened the carrier and sat down on the grass near my car with him for a while. I didn't reach in a grab him, just let him take his time, sniff around and come out when he was ready. Once he was out, gave him a pat, some water and played with him for a bit then loaded him in the car and took him home. Been best mates ever since.

Not one hiccup, simple and easy.

thanks for that info! definitely will not be jumping into anything just yet will be doing research of this breed and see if it actually suits my situation before putting any cash down!

Looked into this the other day. I love Huskies but don't like there big size/excessive fur everywhere.

I love the notion of a miniature husky!

Almost identical story to mine... Came from QLD and was nervous when I got him out of the cage, let him walk around a bit and find his feet and then he was fine.

This is him on the way home

got a reply back from someone selling them listed as being in perth... thinking its a scam

Hello Dear,

Thanks so much for the mail and interest regarding the puppies we
have ..We have one male and two female puppies now available and they
are 12 weeks old, they have very good temperament with kids and other
pets, very playful love to play around with toys and kids, they are
health guaranteed and ANKC registered.....they are up to date on all
their shots and dewormings and they will be coming along side with
their health papers and vet records....... First i wish to let you
know that we are given these puppies out because my mum just died.
She is located in DARWIN and all of us are there now ...She was
the owner of this cute little babies.. Since she is now late , We can't
keep the puppies here in such condition because each time we see them
, we keep thinking of her .So we want to given them out to a lovely
and caring home ,where they can be treated as such and keep us up
dated on monthly progress. These puppies will be coming from
DARWIN .. But if you would be able to come over here for the
pick up ,we shall be very great full, but if you can't come , we can
make arrangements for home delivery service and they will get the
puppy delivered at your doorstep.Below are just some few question we
asked..

Where are you located?
Do you have any kids ?
Have you ever own a pet before ?
Why this breed of puppy ?
How soon do you need the puppies over?
Which sex are you interested on?

Sorry for all the question , but we just want to be sure that the
puppies are going to the right home and they will be having all the
love and attention they need .We are given them out for is just for $500
the Shipping and the puppy and that's all you have to pay okay,If
still interested , do get back to us for more details of the puppies
and pictures.

Send them a msg saying you have a friend in Darwin and would like them to come inspect the puppies and request an address and contact details. Check the details out and if it all seems above board tell them your mate cant make it unfortunately.

Seems a bit suss though.

I got a pure breed and dealt with a registered breeder with a website, show history, list of owners I could contact etc. so didn't really have to worry much about gumtree scammers.

Are you sure you are thinking of an actual husky and not a malimute?

Yes they aren't a minature dog but they are far from a large dog either... no bigger than a collie.

I'm disturbed by the thought of how you get a Husky to breed with a Pom or vice versa.

There's a Norwegian Elkhound breeder in Perth which are a similar small husky/akita/shepard type breed, uncommon but great looking dog.

Yes they aren't a minature dog but they are far from a large dog either... no bigger than a collie.this guys onto it. Alaskan malamute grow quite big where siberian husky are quite a bit smaller.

To the op, just make sure you can deal with the dogs traits be it the miniature or the husky. They may look adorable but if you can't give them the attention they need, exercise, aren't ok with there shedding etc then don't get one purely cos its "cute".

Yep. There is a breeder in Perth too. Cost ain't too bad - around $1,500. Not an easy dog though. They are quite small - roughly knee height.

as others have mentioned huskies are an absolute handful, they NEED to be walked (pref run) at least once a day and CANNOT be left alone for long periods at a time (especially when young)

They are also very head strong and the more you neglect them the more they will take any opportunity to stretch their legs (that means escaping). Oh and they shed, to a certain extent, all year round and actually moult (shed entire coat) couple times a year (when ours moults the backyard almost looks like snow due to the all the hair over the grass)

It's actually tragic how many people get a husky because they look cool then just neglect them because they can't/dont have time to look after it.

But saying that, look after them well and it is extremely rewarding.

Don't know if this is typical behavious but my sister and her husband have one and they had quite a hard time with the dog's anxiety, now she is older she is a lot better.
Also she doesn't socialise well with other dogs. Wouldn't hurt a human but I would not let her loose near another dog.
The amount of hair shed is unbelievable at times. Beautiful dog though.

While you guys are on the subject, does anyone have any experience with samoyeds?
The missus and I are considering adoption a 3 year old girl and would be interested in others experiences. I'm aware of the grooming requirements of the breed and the exersize requirements but I'm not sure how one would handle being left in a big backyard alone for 8 odd hours 4 times a week.

We have a Samoyed. Basically everything that is required for a Husky is required for a Samoyed. They are a lot of work, be prepared for it. Our girl is 3 years old and would not trade her for the world, love her to bits.

One thing you will notice. The hair, the hair, the hair.

If anxious they will dig and chew everything. They are very sociable with people and dogs, would not hurt a fly. Also being a pack dog they need to feel part of the family which means being inside with you next to the couch at night while you watch TV etc. Regular grooming is also a must.

We have 2 dogs so if we are not home they entertain each other. Also give them different toys regularly and walk daily.

Thanks for the reply Riggs,
I've been told grooming is a 15min a day or 1hour a week activity. Would that be about right?
Almost our whole house is tiled and moved of the backyard is paved so I'm not too fussed about the hair, the missus knows how to work a vaccum.

exactly the same with our husky, he just wants to be around people - curls up under computer desk, crawls under car while you're working on it as long as he is with you he is perfectly happy.

Ours socialises well with most dogs away from home (do have the occasional alpha male hiccup) but is very protective at home, wont let other dogs into the house etc. Very friendly with people especially little kids, gets very excited around them licking their faces and jumping around, just have to be careful the kid doesn't get knocked over haha. He doesn't seem to get anxious but when we first got him he was very distant - wouldn't let anyone pat him, didn't eat properly and just kept to himself. Got him at about 1, he grew up with a fifo worker who just didnt have the time to properly look after a husky, took a bit of loving but he came around. Huskies seem to be highly emotional dogs.
