keen to buy some US dollars while its not so shit before my trip to the US. I remember seeing a thread on here with heaps of good info but cannot find it.... help a bruva out.

Australia post can order currency for you, I found their rates to be very competitive.

If you are happy using credit card too - 28Degrees Mastercard ... it will give you the cannex rate of the day and you can preload money onto it to withdraw with no ATM fee.

carousel aust post has a amercian express money exchange centre instore which they did a great rate ( a tad better then the aust post website )

but yea , when is the best time to cash in ?? i took the plunge last week , hope we at its peak now , happy to get 90c after their commission rates .. spewing cause my last trip to usa i got 1.05 .. !!

ps when u going to usa , im booked for feb for about 7 weeks .

I just used the CBA travel card - get the bank rate, easy to load, use as a CC over there.

Get the rate you pay at so no risking fluctuations

was there any fees for holding the cba travel card tj , ive noticed some start charging after 6mths ..

I bought cash from Mobile FX Solutions my Singapore F1 trip with antilag.
they'll deliver directly to you, (home, work, airport)
They can set you up with a cash passport card, which you can load with up to 4 different currencies with no transaction fees (other than when you load it up, 1% iirc) which is what im using for my america trip this december (for USD and pesos when we hit cancun)

Their rate beat travelex when i bought cash for singas.
