They must have a nice open quiet spot for testing lined up .

So what about Harleys?
just like sportbikes, they are legal because the DB level is ""established for the vehicle when it is certified"
for example my Ducati is rated at 103db at 5,000rpm and stamped on the frame

I believe a lot of Harleys use 70's engines in modern frames which by passes the noise/emission laws. I am not 100% on that.

I could be wrong but I was under the impression that there is a hp per db scale in the adrs.
This is why Harley's are allowed to obnoxiously noisey for no good reason.

Harley's are pretty quiet from factory. So are enduro bikes.... that is until you ask them to take off the silence off after their licenced..... ;)
When I bought my KTM exc I said "wow, thats got to be the quietest exc I have ever heard"
Shop goes " after it's licenced it will sound like an exc your used to, you ok with that?"
Me " If your happy I'm happy"
Pick bike up with stock bits in a box in tow....
