Got a full set of these on my car, and I wish to remove the plates to put into storage.
Is there a simple way to remove them, without rendering them useless?
Before someone jumps the gun and says "narrr u jus wanna jack some dawgs pl8s"...

We used to sell these at my old work (auto pro canningvale), sure Matt would be able to still source the key for them. maybe give him a call. or Steve at inaloo may also be able to.

Two people at the same time with a pin punch tapping around will get them out enough to get small vice grips on.
If soft screws pilot hole and easy out.
Never seen a key for these screws? They exist?

Use force with a flathead screwdriver to lever the rounded sections against each other.
I wasn't given the keys to the window locks when I bought my house. Had the same screws and that was how I got them off. Couldn't tell you if it renders them unusable though. I had no intention of keeping them so didn't pay attention to condition afterwards.

what kilma said usually works. if not hit the screwdriver with a hammer a few times and try again. all else use a dremel and cut in a flat blade slot

Dremel or small cutting tool,
Cut a flat head slot and simply unscrew;

"without rendering them useless?"
I feel like if you cut a screw driver slot anyone with a screw driver can use them.

There is no key (that i know of) destroy them to get them off. They are about $6 a pack to replace
What I use at work when rusted out flat heads are fucked is use a pair of side cutters straight on hold tight and twist. Works almost every time.

As has been said, use a cutting disc on a dremel etc and cut a slot. Who cares if it fks them. Its 8 screws, I'm sure it won't break the bank.
