Hi guys, many years back i bought a glock 17 blank fire gun from wellington surplace.
Like this....
<iframe width="420" height="315" src="//www.youtube.com/embed/UtCp8FIfOGE" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
I since sold it (for some stupid reason)
Now i cant find them anywhere. I just rang Wellington and had a chat to the boss. He was saying that yes you can but and own them but he doesnt want the police coming in the store hounding him who he is selling to etc.
My question is.... Is it legal as he says to own / buy?
All i can find out is its illegal to import or own yet this guy can get them in and i bought one then and gave my drivers licence. Why havnt the police come to collect it. Makes me think you can have them then
Sme nice ones here... http://www.replica-blankguns.com/blank-guns/9mm-blanks/
Anyone here want to sell me theres or a freinds hahaha

I would have thought a replica gun that also replicates the sound of firing would be 100% illegal to own unless you were in the special effects or film type industry.

Funny you should say that because i was told people were putting ball bearings in the barrel and punching holes through inch thick jarrah.
Those twats stuffed it for all that want them now

A friend also has one of there, 6 shooter with welded up barrel and holds 6 primer caps.
I have been wanting one for ages, not allowed to shoot home invaders with real fire arms, might as well make them think they are going to die if you had to confront one lol.
I think they fall under a firearms licence category these days. Surely that should be easy to obtain.

There are strict laws against the sale of rubber training weapons in Australia, Bright -fucking- red, rubber training pistols. Simply because apart from the colour, and texture, they look like the real thing.
Something tells me that a working replica will be in the same boat, if not harsher. Not surprised the cops didn't chase you down re: it though, probably scared of instantaneously combusting the moment the knock on your door.

I went through thick and thin to buy a renderd AK47 in from cali USA. There was next to no chance. I had to be a theatrical person and even if i got permission it had to be destroyed or exported strait after film was made. They even wanted to know when the film was being made etc WTF.
So strict just for a gun that wont fire. Whats the difference to buying one of these tomorrow...

(b) not require a licence to sell to WA (as says in their desc)

when I looked at the firearms act and in speaking to police.
if the gun has a purpose then it can be legal to own.
Ie paint ball gun, making livestock
blank firing pistol for sporting event.
you would need a reason though to own one I believe.

This. If I bought one it'd need to have matching numbers proving it was used by the ADF in some conflict. Could imagine even a non firing one might be worth a bit of coin one day!

Sorry to digress but if any of you guys get the shooter magazine. There are a few dealers over east who specialise in old school rifles. Just recently iv seen a few genuine mozen negants, lee enfield 303 and spring field 3006. Woth accessories such as scopes and bayonets. But as most said barry sells old rifles which have been de milled ans are listed as collectors items

I'm not talking about pos 303's and bolt action rifles. I'm talking about the cool guns.
Browning MG's
Lewis
DP28
M60
M79
Bren
Hotchkiss
Grease Gun
MP MG's
Sten
Chauchat
Etc.
Many of these In original condition, with numbers that are traceable as proof of them seeing action in any particular battle have been bought and sold for many thousands of dollars. (Legally)
You can buy a brand new AK for $15k if you know where to look but I'm not talking about that shit.

Those on that list are pricey not because of the theatres they fought in but becuase of the firearm acts in the US. Full auto's and machine guns are only available in a few states. Anything newer than the 80's cannot be sold.

I shot 40 rounds through a Full auto AK47 once. Fun and games till i grabbed the barrel and burnt my handYou should get yourself to a machine gun shoot in the US. I went to the one in Knob Creek (Kentucky) last year and had an absolute blast. So much to shoot at reasonable prices. Managed to get on the back of a "Ma Deuce" 50 cal BMG. Epic.
I also use to have a reasonable bank fire, but was running low on cash and sold it. I think maybe to one of your mates ninja?
Not to long back I had a look through Wellington surplus and they still had blank fire guns but they were all ghey top exit ones :(
The denix replicas they have done there are pretty crap now too, they've gone he'll budgo and half the moving parts no longer move.
I know of someone who makes really good replicas, ak's etc, not cheap but look the part. If I ed up with one ill get some pics. I can't recall if they can be cocked and 'shot' but.
Also as far as I am aware in QLD and WA its perfectly legal to have a replica gun?

It's definitely not that gun haha.
Apparently they were a very common officers sidearm in WW1, my Great Grandfather was shot down by zee Germans and put in prisoner of war camp. I believe he picked it up from one of them when the war ended as the officers captured were treated fairly well compared to most.

Correct. Officers and anyone else that could be in a position of close quarter combat were issued them. i.e. Armoured crewman, air personnel, tunnels etc... or carbine version of the riffle.

Yes they are illegal. For collecting purposes the gun must be de milled which means barrel and breech welded shut. Also the firing pin may need to be removed. Also 357 mag and 44 mag desert eagles can be licenced in wa. They arnt the best gun. Only work well with full load factory rounds. Anything less and the slide doesn't want to work as its very heavy.
Can anyone post a link to law/s regarding replica and blank fires?
