The auto on my cressida developed a pretty serious leak just before It came off the road for repairs, I had forgotten all about it so you can imagine my disappointment when I spend weeks and a small fortune getting it back on the road only to find massive puddles everywhere I stop and lines of fluid whenever I drop below 10.

I couldnt really tell where the leak was coming from as it only comes out when the car is running and I cant have it off the ground with the engine on due to the sway bar hitting the crank pulley, So today I stopped into RPW and they chucked it on the hoist for me (great guys btw, dropped everything to chuck my car in straight away) and we had a look. It starts pissing out of where the gearbox bolts up at the front just under a rubber inspection panel thing.

weird part is when we checked the fluid its full, drove home stopping off at various places, sitting in traffic etc and the fluid level hasnt changed. its now sat in the garage running and dripping for 15 minutes and the level still hasnt changed.

box drives fine, extremely smooth and never slips even when cold.

edit: 1jz, auto. (a340e?)

Drop the oil and refill it to the normal level then take it for drive. Easiest way.

my moneys on convertor seal, or the a340's have a bad habit on the pump expanding faster than the bush that the convertor snout spins in. so obviously when things warm up they expand ie: the oil pump at the front of the box, the bush then slips forward and covers an oil hole (believed to be return) so the only option is for it to spew oil out the front of the pump, through the convertor seal. i had a stage 2 mv box built and i had that bush steaked or notched so it couldnt move and i never had any issues after that. Before that it used to get warm and spray oil and smoke like a bitch, just ask brett_j haha.
