Can anyone tell me whether or not I would pay stamp duty when registering a car I bought unlicensed, then fixed up & got it regoed?
If yes, would I pay based on purchase price (rough condition when purchased, thus very cheap purchase price) or on dutiable value?

When I bought the ovlov, I was told I would pay the stamp duty if or when it was registered on the dutiable value - governments don't want to miss any of their tax!
You pay stamp duty upon registering.
It should be on market/dutiable value but all they need to see is an invoice of how much you paid for the car. Either that or sign a stat dec stating how much you paid.

Take in a receipt of what you paid. If you got it interstate try get an itemized receipt because they will include the transport costs in purchase value if it isn't.
You will have to sign a stat dec either way.
