Even though i work in i.t i've been lucky to avoid the evil apple world for quite some time but that time has come to an end.

I have bluetooth internet sync working. Problem being, i need to retain the local lan for server work while using the mobile data for the net. On *nix this would be a piece of piss but with windows 7 havent found many resources.

Anyone in the know on this?

Are you trying to use the Wifi & bluetooth at the same time on the iphone?
Won't work.

However it should be piece of piss to setup if your using the phone as internet for a separate device i.e. laptop, and a seperate lan connection.

Yeah laptop is on wired lan for server work but there is no net. Iphone is paired over bluetooth but net only works if wired lan is disabled

Assuming you have a newish iPhone, instead of tethering, use the personal hotspot function instead.
(I don't think it will show up while bluetooth is active)

Does the bluetooth link on PC end show up in network connections like normal? If so try setting the "metric" on each network interface manually (google how to), give the iPhone bluetooth connection a lower metric (say 10) and the LAN a higher metric (say 30). This may affect your server link though as it will force the machine to look over the lower metric interface first for net activity. If you have mapped network drives to the server it should be OK but I don't know how you are interfacing with work LAN. Anyway give that a crack, I've done it before but using LAN and wifi links, not LAN and bluetooth. Unsure if bluetooth has metric option so good luck.

Remember to set back to auto metric once you are done...

Cheers mate, net is working aswell as router/server lan via bluetooth tether and wired lan

I used my 3gs as a hotspot when waiting for adsl to be connected

Metrics on routes aren't guaranteed (I've seen them crap out)

Yes, Linux is easy to do but so is Windows.

Best way is to use;

route delete 0.0.0.0
route add 192.168.0.0 netmast 255.255.0.0 lan.interface.gateway

Substituting the 192.168.0.0 with your corporate network.

That way any corporate traffic will go down the LAN interface, and the default route (non-LAN, ie internet) will go through your iPhone.

as above, static route will sort it and force traffic to the right address

And here I was just taking photos of food an sunsets, I thought that was the sum of my phones capabilities.

^ haha

Well had the need for this again, all works fine besides i lose the dns connectivity over the server/router LAN

Stupid Windows routing table, anyone in the know on how to rectify?
