So it's that time of year again. Not quite tax time and everyone is out for bargains. Looking around the usual places like Harvey Norman, JB's, Good Guys and no one is really pushing EOFY deals. I'm on the hunt for a TV and maybe a theatre set up. Samsung TV, 55+ inches. Projector, screen, speakers.

So who has hookups or knows when/if any big deals kick off? Who else is chasing cool shit?

For the EOFY it does seen pretty quiet...too late now but you could have got a cheaper TV from Joondalup retravision when they had a fire sale as it was/is being taken over by Kambos. Mate got a Samsung 60" 3d for about 2k

Does this have USB input??

Everytime I legally purchase an electronic file, I put it on a USB and walk over to my TV and realise I have a retarded SD card slot instead of a USB. :(

Not sure about the UT, but my THP60ST50A has usb inputs which work a treat. The inbuilt lan media player sucks balls though

I also had this issue.

2 ways around it are buiy a HDMI cable and run your laptop to your TV.
Buy a DVD or media player. almost any over 50$ nowadays have USB inputs. i run my external hard drive out of my player.

I can't believe everyone gets such hefty tax returns. I'm lucky if I don't get a bill this year =\ If I end up getting a return up to $1k It'll be going on insurance and bills. However I am more than happy to take everyone else's tax returns. Yeah I'm down in Mandurah, but I do have a van so can do a cash delivery if you're after something big. I've also started hooking people up with camera gear, a D600 and a D800 are now floating around with a couple of members that were super cheap.

If I get a surprise amount back I reckon i'd buy a new desktop PC. Get ready for BF4 at the end of the year.

Yeah I do run the laptop to it at times, and I have my PS3 hooked up to it too, only two issues I have with that are:

1. Laptop is usually plugged into a second screen in the study, and I can't be fucked moving stuff
2. PS3 sometimes give me a message of "this is copyrighted material and cannot be played"

The WDTV is a good setup, parents use it. I haven't bothered getting one yet as I was considering a NAS device to stream through the house before, just haven't gotten around to it. :P

Might just bite the bullet and grab one when the tax return comes up...

Would depend on your wireless network speeds, but it'd be fine. I'm not streaming to a samsung TV but rather a Boxee Box, and I can stream 16gb 3D MKVs without drama at 1080p and 5.1 digital audio. Thats on a Netgear N300 router.

i have a 60 inch LG led 3d, can't remember exact model, usb works great, it's effectively replaced my ps3 as a media centre, i also got the streaming working really well but the interface on the tv is average, doesn't have a proper fast forward or rewind, i'm hoping a software update in the future sorts this.
As for post tax buying i'm hopefully getting a LAMS approved cruiser, i am wishing i could just jump straight onto a Harley or Victory Judge though (flame suit on)

Dont worry about about getting flamed for a Victory - I ride with a bunch of hard core Harley riders, and one has jumped ship to a Victory - we were all on the piss one night at my shed when he first got it, and it is an impressive bike - Arlen Ness was involved with their development and he is no fool when it comes to bike development and looks.

Streams fine as Dan said. No lag or bufferring. The seek slider works sometimes, no good for porn
