Call Saeco in Perth, 9201 1350. I know the Good Guys stock them, was there the other day.

I recently got a saeco syntia from harvey norman for 899 (retail from Saeco was 1299 from memory)
it's honestly been a great machine, only real gripe is that the water container is too small, need to fill it up a couple times a day, other than that, extremely happy with it.
I've got a saeco coffee machine @ work. All honesty I think the nespresso one is better...

doesn't a nespresso machine use pods?
which normally means average coffee??
i'm currently using 5 senses crompton road and it's bloody good coffee!

Dude tell him to buy a Le`lit PL042TEMD and use a manual. It's an awesome machine, as good if not better then my old Rancilio Silvia/Rocky combo. It would take the same amount of time and probably less cleaning then an automatic.... as auto's you have to disassemble etc to backflsh, empty knock box
Best place to buy a Saeco is Gumtree. You can get ones that have made no more than a few hundred coffees for less than half price.
They are good for 50,000+ coffees before they need major work, the one at our bakery did 52,000 before it started leaking out of a solenoid. You need to clean them daily and service them (DIY) every month or two, to ensure this sort of life though.
If he wants to step up, follow cplagz' advice.

Is Jura worth a look? He's been told heat & milk quality of the Jura is miles above the saeco...I find it hard to believe

And I've been trying to convince him to go manual

Do the auto machines froth the milk properly, or is it like the Nespresso where it just spins it basically and boils it to Mordor type temps !

i was looking at the jura at the same time but was told the automatic frothing didn't heat up the milk enough, making luke warm coffee's, mine has a steaming wand still and built in grinder which was a big appeal for me.
please correct me if i'm wrong but i did hear it from a couple of different sources.

That's what the Le`lit has... steam wand, built in conical burr grinder, PID temperature controller ...... :D

We have a Saeco Syntia at work, its a doddle to use and maintain - makes a good coffee.
I have a Saeco Exprelia SS - RRP was like $2,400 but got it for $1799 at harvey norman.
Cons;
If you use milk straight from the fridge it can make a luke-warm coffee sometimes.
Room temperature milk (or just microwave a mug of milk for 20 seconds) and its perfect.
Waste grounds drawer is pretty small
Drip tray is pretty small.
Pro's
Also has a steaming wand for when I want to make the milk "my way"
Makes a good coffee, its repeatable and consistant every time.
Easy enough for the missus to use
I hear the Jura's are also good - but have no first hand experience.
OBVIOUS PRO TIP: USE GOOD FRESH BEANS - NO SUPERMARKET SHIT!

False. I've used them and I'm not a fan.
Also you can't disassemble to clean the group, you need to run cleaning solution through them as it's a fully sealed unit.
I also don't rate Delonghi as high as Saeco... Saeco is by far the best auto machine.
I reckon the way to go is a decent manual machine. If you want to discuss, come past my shop and we can go through it in person :-)
