I could not find the original thread to do with all the Grunt Files info etc as it is all clogged up, so if mods wish to, please consolidate this into the most relevant thread.
For those who have been following along with Grunt Files etc, you may be interested to know that the Australian Motoring Enthusiast Party has recently been formed. It will be quite interesting to see how many people actually stand to vote for them.
You may follow them here http://www.facebook.com/AustralianMotoringEnthusiastParty

Tell me more about this mob?
'
Are they a political party that has started for a seat in parliament?
It will be almost impossible to lobby against other states to agree on same penalties amongst the states?
Who do they aim to target to get support?
Watched some video clip from your links (a current affair) and the coppers saying how dangerous Limo tint is and lowering the cars ride hight makes it dangerous...
My question to the reporter would of been " if limo tint is so dangerous then why is a hearses considered safe with more blind spots? and considered legal?"
"If lowing a car is dangerous however by lowering a car you lower the centre of gravity thus reducing the static roll threshold (SRT) how is this more dangerous?" and most shock absorbers on a car have a life span of less than 2 years - are these vehicles also targeted as they are more dangerous" suspension set up as opposed to the enthusiast?

Have become a member as they do stand for rights and civil liberties that seem to get ignored when it comes to Motoring Enthusiasts. Cannot make the meeting tonight, but it should be a step in the right direction.

I went. About 50 or so people showed and as such, the party has now been formed.
Few basics:
-They aim to get candidates at a federal level, before state level. This will make it harder for state government to say no to meeting with candidates. This will cost $4000 per candidate in order to do so. Two candidates are needed from every state in order to have the party selectable at the top of the ballot papers, rather than the 150 name preference selection. Once this is achieved, votes will go up vastly.
-The party preference will go to whoever is going to do right for motoring enthuasiasts at the time of elections.
-They are not aiming to abolish the hoon law, they are stopping shit from over east, from becoming WA state legislation, for eg: 5 cars headed in the same direction is classed as hoon law. What about 5 firetrucks or a funeral parade? Dodgy law is dodgy.
Few more bits and pieces were brought up, but the meeting was mostly to form the WA party. I also have a shit memory. Decent amount of people there knew exactly what they are on about, have lived over east etc, as well as some older guys.

So... Finally get someone into the senate then an internal bitch fight gives him a position in a party that currently doesn't exist.

What do you expect? The guy has zero fucking credibility. The 6 points is like a list of "what not to do" in any organisation, especially political.

Didn't vote for them because they came across as a very disorganised party. It'd be great to have representation of the motoring inclined in the country but there's also a big risk of having more damage done due to sheer stupidity.
As opposed to labour liberal and the greens?
Cant do worse.

with 1 person in the senate i don't think there is much they can achieve other than possibly have their voice heard by others in the upper house.

Representation is representation. It's better than having no voice at all

They can fuck everything up which would result in a whole lot of people never voting for such a party again. If they did a good job they might be able to maintain a spot or even build on it over time.
