Hi All,

Looking at getting my business moving in the new financial year, and need to get a website happening. The issue I have is that my knowledge of websites extends to looking up porn, buying useless things off ebay and posting some dribble on AL when Im stuck at work/drunk.

Been doing a bit of googling, but need a few pointers;

Who would be good to use for domain registration? I see pricing varies heaps, I am assuming the cheaper ones are more restricted and upgrades/$ probably needed to use domain freely.
Who to use for hosting?

My website will be pretty simple, basically only there for presence and email adress. Will only have a couple pages like home/about/products/downloads, no online sales or any shop type system required.

As an idea of what the business is about we are in manufacturing with our main focus on mining, oil and gas.

I see some people using wordpress for similar websites, would this be a good way to go?

With email, someone mentioned they use gmail as a outlook type deal and link their name@mywebsite.com adress to it. Any one had any issues with this? Or better suggestion? Will be using outlook on desktop.

Once I have all that down pat, then I will worry about search optimisation and other bits n pieces. For now, any suggestions appreciated.

Alternately I can palm it all to a 3rd party to set up for me if the cost isn't prohibitive. I know a few guys on here are in that line of work, if someone can suggest someone to talk to or know a ball park figure for website setup etc.

Thanks

I'll make a basic one for you (no flash) for nothing - depending on the domain it'll cost around $10 a year for top level.
Drop me a PM.

Use NetRegistry.com to purchase your domain and hosting - we use it for all of our clients and they're generally pretty good.

With your email addresses, once you have your domain purchased drop me a PM I'll give you a run down on how to setup your email accounts so they're masked etc correctly.

Just use Squarespace to build a site
Then use Hover to register the address.
