How much did I love doing mono's on my KTM 525..... Then slamming front brakes for an endo.... followed by clamping up the front brakes for a massive power burn out....
Hope it all goes well.

Limiter bashing while starving the engine of oil usually does it.
Wish i knew how to wheelie properly, it usually comes up when im not expecting it to and i dont realise until after its landed.

2 days ago i couldnt wheelie at all, then when out last night everytime we came to a straight section of road i'm pop the clutch and try get the front up. By the end of the night i was able to consitantly get the front wheel up when i wanted and carry it. Just takes commitment and balls. My wheelies are far from impressive but i'm stoked with my progress. baby steps!!
The KTM used to wheelie in anything less than 3rd just powering out of corners... Scared me more than anything haha

HAHA, the exc used to lift the front wheels up in 4th... then click it into 5th and carry it through. Used to look great from the lights..1,2,3,4,5.

Be prepared to go through some front tyres and head frame bearings....
Its all fun and games till you fall off the back...when you only have a pair of boardies, t-shirt, gloves and helmet on.....

Reminds me of my CB 400. 4 pot 400cc bike. Super heavy. Got to give it to those guys to pull of those things with the old school heavy stuff. I couldn't do it :p, kept falling off.

if ur stupid enough to go out doing wheelies and stoppies in T-shirt and shorts then you you'll get no sympathy from me when their scraping gravel out of ur skin. Also more so the reason i want a seperate bike, chuck a 60t sprocket on and will max out at 100kph and i'm moe intrested in doing low speed wheelies and tricks that power wheelies at 200km/h.
Speaking of power wheelies a mate power wheelied his BMW1000RR in 6th gear at 270kph today was fucking insane bike has so much power!!!

I agree 100% and it wasnt the smartest thing i have ever done. In my defense it was on dirt, on a dirt bike at home.
Certainly never happened again.

Do you know if your mate had the recall completed on his bike? it's rumoured they had a problem with rod bolts letting go on the commercially available bike. They were letting go at prolonged high speed. Hate to see the donk lock up at that speed and on one wheel...
Also I think I used to run 56 teeth on my KTM.. It was good for balance control on the back wheel for that bike.

Wish I could say the same. Even after having gravel picked out of my skin after coming off a ripper once. Some clown at Cantonment St in Freo poured oil on the road for burnouts (the old Parry's Car park) and I came around the corner and "BAM" slid out.

pretty sure the recall was on earlier models and only within a specific vin number range. This one is 2012 model only 6mths old.

Nice,
I did test ride one last year. Nice bike. But the rumours of rod bolts letting go put me off and haven't been back on a bike since selling mine last year. Thinking about getting a CT110 for economy and lack of ability to do dumb s**t. Contemplating one for a daily.

lol a CT110, u'll find urself doing jumps, trying to wheelie and taking shortcuts. This generally leads to more trouble. The less the capacity the less the respect lol

I knew that was coming. .. LOL... Can't be as bad as cutting up on a Road/Trail. I sold my last bike because I couldn't help myself.
CT 110 should tame me down. skids, jumps short cuts, all good. Yes to less cc = less respect but at least the jumps will be small and the mono (if it does one) will be at low speed.

Then you'll get bored after one ride and put a 150-160cc motor in from a pit bike, like I did then do wheelies and stupid shit. It was good fun though pulling up at the traffic lights next to other bikes and the look on their faces when they take off and you keep up for a bit until they floor it.

Saw a posty pull out on the wrong side of Tonkin HWY this arvo - either forgot some mail or was keen to get home. All I could think of was a small power slide as he came out onto the HWY.
Then I thought - how sick would that be with a bored donk, or even a 250cc in it.

years ago i used to work opposite the post depo in kelmscott industrial area. There used to be a few posties that would always do jumps off the curbs like u used to do as a kid on ur pushie.
The funniest thing used to be when it rained cos u were guranteed to see a fluro postie, a ct110 and a bag of mail go skitteling down the road from taking a corner to fast.

Gone from bike stunts to CT110 being the bike of choice. HAHA>.. I think I will do a turbo Postie bike. They still use push bikes at the postie depot in Palmyra. On the old school single cog job. Must be fit I'm thinking to pedal that sucker around Palmyra. It's all hills.
Would of been pretty funny to watch the postie drop his mail going sideways.... poor C **t..

Loved doing wheelies on all the various 450's ive owned. Concentrate more on doing small short wheelies and learn how to use the back brake whilst on back wheel and then you will get better and more confident as you keep practicing:)

this has pretty much been my method so far, popping the clutch getting the wheel 3-6" off the ground then dabbing rear brake to bring it down again rather than let it drop on its own. all about muscle memory, once its second nature to end a wheelie with the brake i will start going for higher, slower and longer.

Well on a serious note, best write something about the topic.
Something to take into account for doing wheelies and all the other fun stuff.
Keep the rear tyre pressure slightly higher until you get a feel for the "squirm" as the weight is all being placed onto the rear wheel/front wheel from the wheel stand, endo. You will feel the flat tyre when you are on the balance point.
Keep the chain tension right. Slack chain will cause the bike to rock on the rear wheel and the throttle will be more sensitive.
Keep tune spot on and the throttle piece on the bar nice and smooth. Jerky response will = unstable bike on the rear.
Find the balance point at relatively slow speed. Work with whats right for you. 40km/h should be plenty to start with. Find the balance point, one you find that you will be able to change up gears with ease and build road speed. Slowly let the font drop and with the throttle compensate for the fall - you will get steady acceleration, and if your keen up into top gear.
The faster you go the more important the balance point will be. For example at 60km/h you will need more skill than at 160km/h. The wind pressure at high speed on the underneath of the frame will keep you up easier therefore you will rely on more throttle to keep it up.
At high speed say around 100km/h (if you have worked your way up through the gears and pending front rubber grip) your front wheel will not be turning. It may only slightly as the wind rushes past but on most occasions it will be still. When this happens try and not use the back brake to bring it down but ease of the throttle and when the bike falls screw the throttle hard on just as the wheel is about to hit the ground. This will take load off the forks and stop the bars from being snatched out of your hand.
Also hold the bar tight. The front wheel will be induced into a skid as it now has to catch up to the road speed. You will leave a skid mark on the road and as you do it more your front tyres will feather. You can always tell if a rider does big monos by the wear pattern of the front wheel. Be prepared to go through the front wheel quicker.
Build on your balance point. This is the key. The bike will feel a long way up in the air (because it is). Instead of using the bikes power at first try clutching it so it snaps the bike up. If you rely on power at first you may find you go past the balance point and you will flip.
Each time clutch it harder until you start finding the bike to float. When you get to this you can then slightly keep the power on and the bike will stay stay on the balance point through all it's gears.
Be safe and have fun!
