As any of you in the small business industry may know, times can be tough in todays market, even if what you are selling is top notch!

We believe that recently a few of our competitors have been posting negative reviews on urbanspoon and as such a long-standing family italian restaurant owned by my dad is not getting the recognition and business it deserves.

And although i receive numerous compliments about the food and service, most of them go unnoticed as people only seem to take the time to post negative comments on public forums.

Pet hate is reading reviews by the general pubic. In fairness, 90% of people who review wouldn't know their heads from their arses, reading between the lines in most reviews, it's apparent a holier than thou attitude exits - I blame reality tv cooking shows ! But it's a necessary evil. Liked.

How would you like it if you read great reviews about a restaurant and decided to go for a first date, anniversary etc and the place was actually a shit hole (By no means am I implying this place is either)? Or to put into your terms, a great fishing spot in the middle of the desert?

Like she said I’m her first post. A lot of the posts are from competitor businesses so you cant take these reports seriously. I’m just helping bring back the balance.
Only real way to find out is to go for yourself, my comment may give people a chance to try it and not beilieve the negative

My uncles acually go there often and being full sicilian thay would know if its good so im posting for them ;). Also like she said not many people write the good stuff just the bad

Nobody likes criticism, but if it were my restaurant, I would be taking these on the chin and trying to do something about it.

Pizzas are only available Friday and Saturday I believe, and that was written pretty clearly on the menu last time I went in.

Not sure about corkage, and naturally the service I get might be slightly different, but everyone always seems really nice. I've been there alot and never seen anyone complain or look unhappy.

Urbanspoon remove reviews and likes if there is a sudden surge in a short period.

Caversham House were offering a $50 restaurant voucher if you posted a review on US if you'd been there. The reviews got deleted off US and that was the explanation given to Caversham House. Missus got her voucher though as they still honoured it, haven't got mine yet.
