Just saw the following in the news. Not nice when this happens in motorsport.
Rest in peace and Heal quick to the co driver. Thoughts with the families of all involved and the first responders that would have assisted as best they could.
A Targa Tasmania competitor has been killed and a navigator injured in a single vehicle crash in the state's north.
The single vehicle crash on Porters Road at Exton in the state's north happened at 9:45am, two hours after the field set off from Deloraine for the first competitive stage.
The driver was killed and a navigator has been taken to the Launceston General Hospital in a stable condition.
Police have not released the names of the competitors but say the driver is from interstate and is aged in his 70s.
The Confederation of Australian Motorsport says it is deeply saddened by the death and will release more details after talking to the family involved.
