Most of my road bikes have never seen a hose to clean them until they are 4 - 6 years old - usually only cloths and mister sheen have been used - the day you use the hose is the day the bike starts to age - Im not being a smart pingpingpingping here, but I sold 1 Bombed Harley after its second wash at 7 yrs because I was recommended a degreaser that was the "New Shit" to was everything off my bike.

Well fuck me - the alloy oxidized, and the chrome pimpled with rust within weeks - I was gutted as it was a petty special bike to me

Since then dry clean my bike a much a possible - its piss easy, and keeps the bike looking good

Cos my bike has a matte finish I can't use any polishes or waxs as it jut leaves streaks and white marks. I have found Windex to be the best for cleaning. Has to be the actual brand Windex tho not just glass cleaner as its the only one with ammonia in it. Works great for getting bugs, road grime and lube splattered off ur chain off.

I just Mr Sheen the whole thing and windex the polished metal/screen. Dish of the wheels is easiest on a paddock stand, then pull them off to do the spokes.

Swissvax do a range of products to suit matte finish paints - including a matte wax. Porn stuff!

Quick detail spray is the norm for the bike peeps I've dealt with in the past

when i was racing MX, The day before and the day after any race was a full bare frame strip down to clean and polish it. I sold my last 450 after 8 months and it looked better then when it came of the shop floor.
