Need to get the car over the pits for compliance, unfortunately 101db at present so going to go down the chikenwire route just to get her past. What's the best way of ensuring the damn stuff doesn't just blow out? or does the pressure from the coil keep it pretty much in place?

You would be better putting a metal plate with a few holes drilled into it inbetween the flange from cat and back.

^ Ghetto version of the restrictor plate Gleeso is talking about, but it would still be much better than 'chicken wire'.

People jam steel wool in the pipe and the chicken wire is used between flanges so it won't end up in the muffler

"In the old days" we used a restrictor plate and stuffed steel wool in there before it for good measure.

Seems I am old.... .

Roll up chicken wire, jam into muffler, pass pits, remove wire, drive home.

Just drive gently as the car may not enjoy the extra restrictions....

OK, I figured this may be the way.. will do it and see if it muffles it enough, otherwise will have to go down the restrictor route.
