I just saw this on TV, and thought it would be of interest to some of you guys.

"Build and drive Mark Webber's Red Bull Racing RB7! This amazing 1:7 scale radio-controlled nitro model of Red Bull Racing's championship-winning RB7 is available now!

Sophisticated design for optimal performance, precision-engineered and top quality components from Kyosho together with De Agostini.

Each week you will receive a fantastic magazine packed with an inside look into the RC world, F1 plus a step-by step assembly guide showing you exactly how to build the model."

-3.5cc nitro motor' 1.8hp (at crank)
-1:7-scale, 689 x 250 x 150mm with its bodywork fitted.

My only qualm would be that for the overall price, you could fork out and get a R2R one straight away, but I personally enjoy building things, would be interesting and insightful.

Can you wait for the next part for each week? To be honest to wait each parts weekly would kill me!

Kyosho make amazing RC cars, but the parts are not the easiest to come by nor cheap.

Hmmm, buy a few copies of each issue for spares? Haha

I expect that this being a 'collectors model', the parts supply would only suffice a certain amount of complete builds.

As I said, for the sake of playing F1 boss NOW, a shop bought model would be best.

C.rusli: on a budget, and if you're a bit of a greenhorn at building some things, a weekly supply of bits ,might be a perfect entry into the RC building world.

So this is one of those things where they send you 1 part a week but don't tell you upfront that there's 500+ parts required, which at $5 a week equates to about $2,500 for a model you've built yourself over 10 years?

Pass.

I saw the add on TV today and as soon as they said first issue is $5 I knew a lot of people are going to get caught out when it comes time to receive the chassis/motor and there are $100+ issues.

There are 100 issues at $19.99 each, the first issue is $4.95.

Ends up costing a hair under $2k.

For that price, you can buy 4 or more really good RC cars.

Yep total ripoff.

You can get a good quality HSP electric RTR for $125 off ebay with bulk spares and hop ups available cheap, add a EZYRUN Hobbywing 9T brushless motor/ESC combo for $89 and you have an RC car that will do between 80-100kph depending on gearing for a tad over $200.

Fuck.

I'm guessing the only reason to buy it then would be to say that you did.
At ~$2k it'd want to smoke the shit out of tyres all day long...
And have a 3year - 50,000km warranty

Add says "rc ready" so no servos/controller etc is what I basically heard?

Rc ready doesn't mean ready to run.. So that's probably correct
