Don't venture out to the dark side all that much and wondering where the good coffee shops are.

Bonus points for something that has easy access to riverside walk, alternately places quirky, artsy, rustic would be nice as well.

Cheers,

Marc, Joe directed.

Elixir on Stirling Hwy Nedlands.

There's a reason they are Numero Uno ranked on Perth Coffeescape and Top Ten Perth.

I've known the owner Justin Kenny for years, he's ex Velvet Espresso (before Anthony Arnold bought it).

They roast their own beans too, if they're roasting when you're there, you can sometimes get the grand tour.. Probably best to become a regular before asking though :-P

No idea what's good in Freo or down that way, but im sure someone else has suggestions.

The Roastery in Canning Vale, I rate there coffee over most of the places in Perth. They also roast their own beans on the premises and have won awards for them.
They also have other coffee shops in the city, one is in the Ernst and Young building on Mounts bay road, the other is Cafe 54 on Pier st.
If they are quiet you can usually get one of the Baristas to talk to you about coffee and tips on making your own better.

These guys get our bread too, and tonnes of it at that.. They're super busy.

Megan (ex-Velvet) is the Barista at the southern river store.. She's awesome.

This is why I feel less guilty going there for brekky sat mornings, I will hit up your place soon, but I just want to relax on a sat morning with my paper and a good coffee :)

They really need to increase the size of their "large" takeaway @ The Roastery though.......

Infinity cafe (Adelaide Terrace) is top notch but can be a real wait sometimes, Vinyl cafe (Hay Street) does a good "large coffee" at $5, Velvet (King St) is good but parking is shit.
Hoopla Espresso is not bad either (in Kensignton, just off Douglas Ave heading towards Canning Highway).

I usually try and find one around a number of areas for when I am out on the raod and need a fix.

You could always head to the house of pants - they apparently do a good nespresso which our fellow barnie loves, maybe pm him for a price list

Cool Room Freo - near the golf course/netball place. 114b Holland St Next door to a cool retro shop, brew up, check out pre 1980 things... cool as, pardon the punt. All furniture old school, good food, service and coffee. No drama for parking. Once tried to bargain on an old Vane tune up machine.... $200 bucks and oscilloscope still working... really wanted it... reminded me when I was an apprentice. Lesson learnt...if you want it..buy it.

Blinco St cafe Fremantle 19 Blinco St Fremantle, I think it's changed it name, old school stuff, great place to chill, friday night pizza is awesome with live solo music. In the industrial area. No drama for parking. Busy as though. Golf course could be fun...

Whisper Wine Bar Freo, a bit upmarket - French staff, food (tapas style) made on site right to the kneading of the dough, coffee, wine and snacks get the balcony, take a chick... you will be rewarded. Hot summers night.... however you may not feel pissed but watch the stair case on he way down....hand rails were invented for the intox and not the impaired. 1/15 Essex street Fremantle Phone: (08) 93357632

C15... yep... cougar with he lot, take away, mixed but don't stair... spills easily... watch the gangsters on the way out.

The Roastery (Essence Of Coffee) Warton Road Canning Vale and their other 2 cafe's in the city .Their own blend is good but I always ask for grinder 2 as it is one of their own single origin roasts and changes frequently

Maven is bombed, but Bar Biscotti (Raine Square, although lobby of Bankwest Building) rates higher imo. Am about to head downstairs & grab one now...

It's one of those grey areas.. But either way it's accessible from Freo without hitting the fwy.
