I've been using chrome pretty much since it came out and was happy with it for a long time, seems to be turning to shit lately though, getting slower and crashes all the time, i get the black screen (yes i know there's a fix) and shockwave crashes all the time.
Basically over it and looking at trying something else.

So tell us what you use and why

Shockwave crashes all the time because it's junk.
I used FF for a very long time before moving over to chrome, mainly due to it getting bloaty & buggy.

Have had a very good run with it for the last 2 years or so, but I've found the key to keep it running well (and probably FF) is to run the absolute minimum plugins/extensions.
Run to many and it messes with the browser, on chrome you can see this with the chrome task manager.
Adblock is a must and it's actually the only extension I run these days, and my internet surfing is trouble free :)

I was an avid supporter of Firefox for many, many years, until they started pumping out new releases week after week and it steadily became incredibly bloated.

Made the switch to Chrome, haven't looked back. Same as TJ as well; everything sync'd.

Firefox shits me to tears, all my websites come out looking like they're straight outta 1996.. text only. It usually fixes itself after clearing the cache etc, but it comes back in no time. I think its more a Windows 8 issue than anything else.

I'm using IE and I find that its not causing me any particular issues currently.

Don't really mind but prefer Chrome over the rest. Doesn't crash for me - you on all the warez/pr0n sites bro? :)

was all about firefox, but ~12 months ago it started running really buggy, and caused a bunch of BSODs for me. Switched to chrome, with the intention of reformatting soon after and going back to FF.

new HDD, ram, and a reformat later, and FF killed the computer again. Fucked it off, went to chrome, and haven't looked back.

Chrome has been good...firefox I found would start shitting itself (going slow) after a long while...no issues with Chrome, and just started using the Adblock extension (no ads on websites or ads before/during videos, YES!).

I've used FF for a couple years now. Tried out Chrome for a little bit, whilst still keeping FF just incase, and just didn't like the flow of Chrome, so continued with FF.

I also agree with infamous_t in regards to plug-ins. FF was getting pretty laggy at one point, but I did have a few unneeded plug-ins installed. Also, going to 64-bit with an excessive amount of RAM has helped smooth out the rest of the bumps.

don't use any addons or extensions except for adblock and a youtube one, no dodgy porn sites... surely only newbies fall for that shit, tumblr for images and beeg.com for short clips or torrents for dvd spec does me just fine :)
pc is decent, might try a reinstall, i stopped using FF for the same reasons listed above a few years ago, chrome had been fine until recently.
is there an alternative to shockwave?

Firefox on Home PCs.
Chrome on Work PC.

Soon to switch the Work PC to Firefox, as a few of the web-based interfaces we use aren't supported too well in Chrome, but work fine in Firefox/IE.

Don't forget guys that if you're using an Ad-blocking extension, white-list Antilag... without advert revenue, this site would be paid for out of the pockets of the people who run it.
