Hi guys, long story short.

Putting my car back together, used a spare set of axles that i've never used before, came out of another car a long time ago.
Just got it all together and went to put wheel nuts on, to find that the studs are a different size. The car is a VL, which I assume has the same stud thread as all commodores apart from the VE?

VB-Z = 12 X 1.5mm

I do not have vernier callipers or anything on hand to measure the stud with, the best I could do was:

This is more than likely a 1/2 inch stud...

does anyone have a 1/2 inch weld wheel nut I can try to make sure before I spend money buying some?

It's kind of urgent, car is booked in at SWB next weekend and I need to drive down!

Earlier holdens use 7/16" thread pitch, so presumably Chev does as well, might be astarting point

cheers but 7/16" is smaller than standard commodore, and commodore is just slightly smaller than 1/2".

After a phone conversation with my mate up in morely I am all but convinced these are 1/2 inch studs, just need to find a nut to test or a bunch to buy/borrow!

Looks like 1.75 metric pitch or mabe about 13-15 TPI also need to know diametre or the bolt to tell u a size. Just try a wheel nut that is 1/2" if u dont have anything to mesure size with

yep, currently looking for a 1/2" wheel nut, not so easy to find at half six on a saturday though. I can drive to morely to pick one up, but its a shit drive to do there and back twice just to confirm my suspicion. He only has closed end nuts, so not very good to me.

yeah I'll hit them up early next week if I cant just find a nut nearby to test.

Reckon BP kelmscott would stock a 1/2" wheel nut though? I found no local servos even had standard commodore nuts. Haven't been to Kelmscott to check though.

I have a bag of open ended 1/2"x20 i think. Will have to hunt for the hex adapter though. Sure the axle isnt from a Ford? :P

Give me 5 and ill see what I got.

Looks closer to 18 TPI, which doesn't make sense- 13 is UNC, 20 is UNF (1/2") ????

OK so after the guess work I borrowed 10x 1/2"-20 from Winstor, no luck! doesnt fit on right. goes over but definitely doesn't thread right.
Need to borrow a thread sizer from someone to figure this out...
