I thought it would be a good idea for a thread... what are your simple pleasures in life?


For me, its a couple of things.

- Going for a summer night time urban ride on the pushy with a group of similarly minded people.. bombing down hilly streets, through paths and places where we can't go with a car, having a good ol laugh when someone tries to jump off some steps and stacks it. Pretty much the best thing at the moment, its euphoric especially after a stressful day.

- Hearing an exotic car go past whilst on the throttle a bit, even just enough to get the active exhausts opened up. Split second happiness.

- My kids excitement when I get home from work.

- Turning on the PlayTV when I've got a bit of time up my sleeve and realising I've got unwatched episodes of my favourite shows.

- Lazy days at a deserted beach where I can go for a surf and relax, and not have to worry about fighting for a wave like we do in perth.

- And strangely enough, the pressure of starting a major uni assignment the day before its due - for some reason that stress motivates me more than anything

Got that feeling right now after a good session on the porcelain.

For me in no particular order:
- Starting up the car on an early morning with the window open, hearing that crack of sound as it bursts to life. Then hearing it reverberate against the walls as i drive away. Also on the car theme, those times after you've washed it/serviced it that it just seems to drive 10x better than before - perfect shifts, smooth, beautiful sounds. Ahhhh

- Nice big hug from my fiance after not seeing her for a while, be that a day, a few hours, a week...

- Being a bit of an OCD type, love crossing that last thing off of a big to-do list hahaha or getting everything in the garage/house nice and tidy

- Agree with Joe on the cycling but for me its a nice crisp morning air thing, when theres no wind and no traffic, legs not tired etc.

-I used to (lol) go riding a lot at night time on the Duke on my own. I remember one week I rode 3 times to Clarkson and back for the sake of it. The roads are normally empty, all you can feel is the wind and the feedback from the handlebars, my ears are filled with a mixture of uplifting music and the boom and thunder of the exhaust - it makes me feel so relaxed and at peace. It's probably the thing I miss the most on the bike, your mind just becomes clear and it's almost like meditation.

-When I finish a long shift at Villa, coming home and sitting in pure silence and darkness in my living room and enjoying a drink.

-Napping under a tree on a sunny day

-Feeling broken after a workout

There's this weird feeling of tranquility you get after spending a couple of hours roaming rugged coastline by foot, and you stumble across something that just looks, 'right'. It's hard to explain. Soft, low, orange sunlight spills over everything, it's just you, a camera, and an amazing scene in front of you. Everything seems to just fall together, and I'm instantly disconnected from everything else.

It's pretty magical.

I think the issue with Pastacup is they cook the Pasta well but then it keeps cooking in those cups that hold in all the heat and by the time you eat it, it's all gone to shit as mentioned by Brett.
