I'm normally a nice guy and hardly say anything mean and shit but THIS has annoyed me the most.
Alright, so since buying a DSLR camera is cheap these days and how facebook is, everyone thinks they are photographers. I used to like looking up pictures and seeing nothing but quality but now? People are stamping there logo over everything, Half the pictures I have seen could be taken better with a camera phone. Example:
Looking through "Epidemik"'s photo's on facebook under the album "Perth Underground Issue 2 Launch." And I see this as quality?

SRSLY...WTF
90% of the photos in that albumare blurry, shit photos I wouldn't even put my logo on it nor upload it.

everybody starts somewhere. if anything seeing these photos makes me feel better about my own photography.
also im pretty sure it was the same guy advertising his services on gumtree for automotive photography with a "pay me what you think its worth" slogan. yeh nah.
he needs to buy one of them new cameras where you can focus after taking the shot, thats my plan anyway.

most of those photos are in focus, just the main subject is out of focus. it is a bit sad, unless hes being artistic it could possibly be next level stuff. i for one welcome our new photography overlord.
Sure start somewhere - but dont go out and promote yourself based on that.

I have absolutely no idea what I'm doing with a camera, I don't understand any of the settings ect, ect at all so I leave it in auto mode 100% of the time. I've only got average quality cameras with kit lens's and I've not had any auto mode photo's a shit as that. How do you actually make the camera do such a shit job when it actually wants (if you leave it in auto mode) to do a much better job, aren't these things pretty much muppet proof ?

I can't believe you guys have missed the BIGGEST issue with these photos...they're all taken at an angle of 0deg! Someone needs to let him know all true automotive photographers take their snaps at 45deg.
I'm normally a nice guy and hardly say anything mean and shit.

That's why I got out of the business - anyone with a digital camera automatically thinks they are a professional photographer and hands out their photo's freely as above. Couple this with people who then use Photoshop as a tool to edit a poor shot. A lot of people don't give too shits about the quality of the shot other than it's their car etc in the pic.
As for the above shots not it focus and on manual - camera basics. Let alone the composure of the shot. They should of been binned and then moved on to improving the next shot. Not publishing them.

On the whole adding logos/watermarks to FB/Instagram/Flickr photos - with the big hoo-haa about the change of terms in their user agreements, there was a big push for people to just automatically start watermarking ALL photos that they upload - if FB wants to use your image for advertising, then the image will include your watermark.
Not defending the quality of the photos taken, just offering a possible explanation for the use of a logo.

Nope. Auto mode is muppet proof. Manual mode and even shutter/aperture priority modes actually require some thought before taking the shot.
Not that there's anything wrong with auto, especially during the day in good lighting, against stationary subjects.

logos are played out (among other things), unless you're actually a "pro"...and if somebody takes the fucking photo...big whoop.
Overly saturated photos, blurry...god damn, yucky.
Oh well.
Logos/watermarks on anything except magazine-quality photos is stupid and pointless.
Even most of the pro's on 1x.com and 500px.com don't watermark.

If a 1100D can swap lenses and have a battery grip added then anything captured by it is of photojournalist quality. Because you now own so many billions of pixels you should brand them otherwise someone else could come along and steal them.

For me photos are 50% composition, 50% "Technical", 50% Subject/Story.
60% of the time it works, every time.
I actually know Damian who is the Epidemik Perth guy.
He's a nice 19 year old kid who is obviously just starting out and he doesn't take himself too seriously.
I have mentioned to him that some of those photos are pretty average, but I'm not a photographer at all. I suppose you don't need to be a photographer to decide what looks good and what doesn't.
However, I wholeheartedly agree that your best work should be on display, not every photo you've ever taken of every thing you've ever taken a photo of...ever.

As said. If you genuinely think out of focus photos and shit covering what is meant to be the main focus of a photo ... you clearly are retarded and have no idea.
And lol at the 150% thing. Composition and lighting are the 2 most important things. Your photo has to have a point that draws your eyes to. Can be something small on a car like a badge but a fucking shopping trolley covering the front of a car is stupid.

he does realize this though..
the ad on gumtree doesnt make him come across as someone that is up themselves about their photography "skill"..
i agree with what people say re posting every shot they take up on FB - but, even as seen here on antilag - a lot of people complain about their cars not being in any photos (LOL).
I know the guy personally, he's a modest person, not up himself or anything... yes i don't like the pics he takes but hey, they're his pics, and its his logo. i'm not gonna go around telling him what he should and shouldnt do, because i'm not a professional photographer.
i'm pretty sure he has an account on these forums and could do with some constructive feedback though, then maybe everyone will be happy.

Maybe not, but I did this shoot for an R33 for a carton of beer, and I don't have much skill or knowledge. Getting photos completely out of focus and with poor composition would actually be a waste of time.

I could of stopped taking photos, not listened and kept going by my merry self, or actually listened to the constructive criticism delivered by people such as Terry and Ben, and also a few others which I thank them greatly for. I do not think they're necessarily ruining photography, you have people who do not want to spend much and they will get a cheaper photographer and get worse photos, the people who have the money and want a proper job will pay the money to hire a good photographer, some people can't afford 5k for a good wedding photographer, the images above are terrible though they haven't even got the basics down.
