Im looking at buying a 2005 100 series V8 petrol cruiser for a tow car and would like to know if there are any "easy" mod's to free up a few kw's

I would like to put on a set of extractors and free flowing system asap - any recomendations, and how do you tune them after doing this?

cheers

Speak to John, he's been doing a few of these lately.

Toyota seem to have a thing for awful exhaust manifolds and when you replace them with a decent set you get way better fuel economy and way better performance.

I'm not sure which brands are available for your engine but for mine all I could find was Wildcat.

They shouldn't need any tuning with the exhaust/extractors change only.

The top mount blowers really liven them up :-)
The standard manifolds are poopy, get a good set on there to free up the flow and they improve massively, intake, unichip and you're as good as gold.

As said but, you'll need deep pockets for the fuel it drinks

What the go with unichip - plug and play or dyno tune after fitting them?

Not really worried about fuel cost - gotta have the shit so just fill up and mash the pedal

I have 4 lsx series v8's at the moment to fuel up, so one more wont hurt

Pacemaker exhausts are the best option and also when you remove the standard muffler have a look at the flap inside its fucking huge and do the supercharger they fucking move ill try find power figgers of one that we tuned at my old work

The black one that was built in Bunners but is from Karratha?

I was told it did all wheel smoke show under acceleration, but nah. It is a fun 4wd though. Probably went about the same as a stock tt diesel 200 series.

Ended up getting at 2006 v8 instead - was in a lot better cond overall compared to the 2005 (different dealerships)

The 2005 had bee waist deep in salt water by the look of it - the towbar had a huge rust bulge the size of a large egg on the under side - it was the serious rust where the steel layers and separates so it is close to being a total hole!!

The 2006 had been babied by the look of it and only has 100k on it

I will do a full system to start with, and look into the tuning/chipping side of thing to ensure I go down the right path

With all my other toys, I couldnt justify blowing it at this stage

Lol, different ballpark :p
Put a liquid injection gas setup on it & free up the exhaust as already mentioned.

If you've got the cash to spend then your better off going stand alone ECU, I've seen a few that have had just this done and they have managed to get a minimum of an extra 200km from a tank around town

Yeah, your LSX motor is like a Prius compared to 4.7L Toyo V8's! I average around 17L/100k's around town in mine, around 12L/100k's on long journey's.

Dean, I thought gas was bad for these cars?

Pretty much my opinion with 'em. It was still 11-15k cheaper going the V8 than getting the I6TD motor so I reckon that's about 4/5 years worth of paying the extra cost of fuel...
