VX Berlina LS1 questions (standard)

car had been stored for 2 years , i changed the oil and added fresh fuel ,
runs ok but there is a over heating issue that looks like thermostat ( i boiled it in a pot and it didnt open)
motor is running a bit ruff @idle and the engine light is ON

ill buy a thermostat tomorrow and new coolant

with the motor running ruff and engine light ON can you guys give me things to check or am i best taking it to a workshop (this time of year sucks to book in)

Check spark plugs and make sure leads are on properly

probably injectors fouled too, especially if it's been sitting for 2yrs. then you move onto other things like 02 sensors etc but they will really only come into play once the engine coolant temp gets above 70c.

Did you drain the old fuel or just add new stuff?

was on the fuel light so i just added a new tank
new coolant and thermostat done this morning :D solved over heating issue
new spark plugs will be going in tomorrow morning
the pcv rubber hose had a split so i replaced that with garden hose (ill buy one tomorrow )
might pick up a new fuel filter tomorrow too

all right so new spark plugs, new leads, 3rd tank on fuel ,
left the battery disconnected for 3 hours to reset the ecu
car ran light a pile of shit then engine light came on and motor stalled , i restarted the car , and its running fine but engine light stuck on
is this a job for holden and there scan tool ?

be a sensor fucked somewhere, theres a guy that does scans on gumtree for $50
