sent your details to a mate in the industry. no idea if they're open/available or not.
well i agreed for some handyman/maintenance/fencing bloke & his offsider to do this glass fencing job (5/6m all up).
he quoted me $2k to do it & he's royally fucked it up.
he's used freedom semi frameless glass panels/gate/latch etc from here http://www.fdfencing.com.au/customPages/store-locations?subSiteId=1
but i think the whole lot probably needs to be ripped out the ground & we start again, sigh..
I'm an expert in this stuff now, but have no time to do it, so anyone knows someone who can salvage this farkin abortion let me know.
thanks Lathiat, ask em if they are interested.
cheers
I assume you didn't pay him considering how bad he fucked it up?
yeah, i offered a deposit before he started, as normally 50% deposit is needed up front for the purchase of materials etc, but he said dont worry it.
so no, i havent given him any cash yet & its fully 'installed'

How did they screw it up ?
Looks simliar to this china shit balustradingwa started flogging off cheap. Prick to install and worth fk all, made no sense
we also had to put in like a 20mm plastic spacer to make the latch on the post meet the gate... nasty bit of kit
ive gone thru the install instructions on the freedom glass website & it seems very easy. the critical thing with the gate is to have the gate post centres within tolerance (4mm).
the installer clearly didnt have a clue what he was doing, for example the latch as supplied for the gate is about 900mm off the ground (easily reachable by a toddler..), thats fine if the latch is placed on the inside of the fencing, but guess what, he put the latch on the outside...
because of this it screwed up the whole post spacing arrangement (all posts in conc footings, so not just bolted to paving).
he then had another go with a new post, smaller sheet of glass & 'T' infill sections boled to the gate hinge post, but the gate post centres are way to big and the magnetic latch doesnt engage proplerly, if at all.
the hinges/gate is not level, the hinges are wobbly & not bolted on to the 'T' section very well - i could go on!
he's doesnt seem to be asking for his $2k payment, but I'm still left with a bit of a mess.

Yes, firstly youre right about the latch it should be on the inside of the gate so you reach over to unlock and it should swing towards your body.
Sounds like a nightmare of a job.
Those glazed bits of glass are easily moved, just the concrete footings have to get smashed off the post and reset.
I fly back tomorrow if you want me to come have a look and give you some ideas of what can be done

thanks, send me a pm when you can have a look & i can send you some fotos if you like.
