Righto I have 10 days in singapore to fill the time in over Christmas, I have reviewed the ALM 2012 F1 trip summary and I have penciled in the following
Garage R – can I just rock up and have a geeze or?
Santosa
Indoor skydiving

Can anyone suggest anything extra I can do to fill in the time, preferably car related or just good entertainment in general.

Cheers,

siladee

awesome cheers guys,

i have been told, some stuff can be purchased cheaper in singapore but the majority is more expensive. however i have been told you can pick up Defi gauges, and decent HID kits for a fair amount cheaper than in Aus.

can anyone recomend a store to do some automobile related shopping?

For something interesting/different I'd recommend a trip to Little India. Basically a shithole resembling India, but its amazing that it exists in such a place as Singapore. Electronics stores here that will try to rip you off too, was fun :P

Based on my last few trips there with a group of mates, the standard things to do appear to be:

- Visit 4-floors of Whores, fuck a man's face who at first glance appears to be a woman.

- While you're there, try to bribe two hookers into wearing the other like a glove.

- Nail a hooker on a dirty motel bed in front of 10+ of your peers.

- Drink silly amounts at Universal Studios and then throw up on the tea-cup ride.

- Trash an entire VIP section of Zirca (their most popular club), including smashing glasses in toilets, throwing bar stools over bar's, and throwing up over the balcony.

Fuck I love Singapore.

If your into horse racing, try Kranji races on a Friday night - hopefully win enough money to hire a bevvy of hookers to treat your body like an amusement park.

THE TIPPLING CLUB

On Dempsey Hill, dinner, do it.

As for buying stuff in Singapore, it's really not much cheaper then over here anymore with imports. Clothing is probably cheaper simply because there is a far wider range to choose from.

Fuck me 10 days in Singapore, I was over it after 3 days on holidays and I was born there lol

Beside all the stuff mention from the previous post,

If you feel like buying some electronic gear like a new graphic card or a new camera or maybe a tv... head over to Sim Lim Square(6 levels of Electronic shops full of Asian trying to rip you off) Cheaper to buy it in Aus or Ebay..

If you are bringing the mrs drop her off at Orchard MRT - Directly under ION Shopping centre lots of shops there like H&M, Victoria Secret, Sephora, Pull & bear and other EU/UK brands

Bugis Junction has another cheap shopping area and a lot more outside - packed with Chinese teens

Also in Little India? Mustafa Centre 24/7 shopping centre run by Indians basically its the Wallmart of Singapore... You can buy anything there lol (soo many indians here its not funny)

Best way to go around is using the MRT buy an EZlink card from any of the stations and put $20 on there should last you the whole 10 days roughly

Go the the tekka center in little india and order up some rotti pratta, so damn awesome and the first thing I do every time I got to singapore.
East Coast Seafood lagoon is pretty good too for a bite to eat. Also get addicted to kaya toast, and piss yourself laughing at the food joints called "wangs"
Theres also some pretty cool little shops tucked away just of orchard road, managed to find a clothes shop called foreskin, lol

HIHGHLY recommend the zoo.

1-Altitude isnt bad, but kind of a "get there early in the night, have your "complimentary" drink and enjoy the view, grab some photos and leave" place.

Sim Lim was basically 6 floors of shops selling the same stuff - cameras, Apple gear, laptops - I was hoping for more crazy electronics stuff.

Ditch the tourist-trap restaurants and just eat at the local food stalls/courts (make sure they're displaying the sign saying they're "A" rated for hygiene and you'll be fine).

Personally, I think I'd get bored spending 10 days in Singapore without a reason (eg F1) to be there.

Appropriately timed thread is appropriate. I'm heading to SG tonight for a solid week of boozing because with some of the SAF lads.

Go to the East Park way Restaurant area and get Chilli Crab at jumbo or one of the other places.
THere is also a cable ski park there. I think it's called Cable 360 or something.

Four floors is a good time if your a single guy... just watch the top floor in Crazy horse... as others mentioned there was something different about the girls in there.

If you are a Dimsum fan, I think every Sunday in the Fullerton hotel you can get amazing 5 star dimsum for about $25 set menu... Bookings well in advance essential.

If you want to romance a special lady friend... or guy if you are into that.. .then you can book dinner in the Singapore Flyer (ferris wheel). Pretty nice meal and not too expensive.

The wavezone at Sentosa is good fun if you like pretend surfing and you've already mentioned indoor skydiving at Ifly (which i just did in dubai and it was awesome).

The night safari at the zoo is really good, way better than going during the day.

There is a lot to do, I discover more things every time I'm there.

Oh there are a few good themed bars in Clarke Quay... One of them being a beer stockmarket. The clinic (hospital themed) and Yello Jello (heaps of cocktails made with jelly).

There is an autobacs in singapore. Went last time they first opened and it wasn't that great but might have better stock now. Your best bet (for car related activities) is to buy a local car/tuner magazine and check out events/shops from there.

wangs kaya is crap anyway. there is one in marine parade.

ask the taxi driver to bring you to a "CMC kaya roti" (chinese name: 珍美珍) and they will know where to take you. once you have tried CMC, you wont be going back to any of the others (yakun, wangs, etc)

Bit of a thread revival, going to be in Singapore this coming weekend and was wondering if anyone knows a sport bar that will be showing the Derby?

Quick google really comes up with Boomerang Bistro and Bar

I found an Irish bar off Orchard Rd that shows a lot of sport.

Not a sports bar, but 28 Hong Kong St is a groovy little bar with decent food as well.

this provides some pointers

Well that escalated quite quickly, brief highlights;

- Thursday was a bit bored in the arvo, so found a BMW 318iyolo for hire and took it on the Malaysian toll roads for Wangan runs.

- Turned around in a little slip road looking for a ATM, as we had zero money on us. Freeway on ramps are a bit too mainstream so I tried a slide down the grassy bank and got yolobmw bellied out with her front wheels in the air, had to pay a bunch of local kids to essentially lift and push the thing out.

- Turned into a little village and did some WRC driving and a few lawn slides, unfortunately got bogged out the front of a Mosque (didn't actuallyknow it was a Mosque) mid Prayer and got chased by a Mercedes out of Malay - Many jandals on way out

- Friday decided we wanted to go Go Karting however best go kart track was 330km away at Sepang circuit near KL. Another Malayyolo Journey with more Wangan runs, the other boys hired a Jetta and broke the gearbox 80km in.

- Get to go karts at 10pm, no dramas purchased a full race series in the 125 2 strokes. Wet and greasy track made practice and qualy interesting.

- Monsoonal rain followed our Qualy and old mate go kart man didn't want to let us out so we said we will go out in the slower 4 stroke karts (we are talking full puddles and full windscreen wiper spec rain). Kart man said ok to slower karts, we said we don't want to get our clothes wet so half the boys went out in their Jocks for some Naked monsoon go kart racing. Locals were a bit confused as to naked dudes racing around in the rain at 1 am

- Finished go karting at 2:30 AM, went to servo for some cuppa noodles and fuel stop. Locals again very confused to 9 white dudes with no shirts on at 3am in the outskirts of Sepang in 2 hire cars. Drove back at moderate Jandal. Blew a couple of Toll gates at max speed which made Bribing the other end of the toll road interesting, one gave us our bribe money back and just opened the boom, another had a bribe price list which made life just so much easier. Got stopped for a bit at Sing boarder where again the boys had not put shirts on and were sitting in the 'bad kids' room.

- Back in Singapore at 7:30 am where the BMWyolo pulls into the marina bay sands valet parking with a handbrake slide

- Next night Z and myself decide to take a hire gondola boat thingy for a spin through the Marina Bay shop canal system. Security got a bit mad and we got called to the office the next morning for a bit of a talking to.

- Oh, we watched some F1

Now sitting back in Malaysia while the other boys are on a flight back home, 4th time I've been here in 5 days. Boarder patrol getting a bit sideways face as to my many stamps one day after another.

What a 5 days.

Fuck it was funny when you said "The toll boom gate is up " and i said 'yeh thats normal -it means the road is open free of cost " the look on the operators and other cars as we cross the boom gate with shits and giggles as the car is full pelt going through.

I could not stop laughing knowing the money challenges that lay ahead. :)

Aussie Bar, Level 3 Orchard Towers Aka Four Floors. PS don't bet anyone playing pool there. If a bar has some screens ask then if they would change one over to the Australian channel which should have the derby on.
