Has Nearmap now got no public access?

If so, does anyone have login details they wish to share?

Damn. It was the only decent map site out there. Unless anyone else knows of a good alternative, Google Maps it is. :(

Surprised they dont offer a personal use option..

Charge people 20 bucks a year.. Fuckall bandwidth and heaps of people would sign up..

At least I still have access at work

Is it something specific you need a photo of, or were you just browsing?

If it's the former, PM me with what you need.

Thanks for the offer. I was having a meeting with someone and wanted to get a lay of the land. At least OpenSourceMaps is still available.

Shame, I was using Nearmaps when sussing out homes I was keen on - check out surrounding homes/streets etc.

Think more than a few people were pissed off, their Facebook page has been taken down.

So they could tell everyone who was free-loading how much they had left to free-load?

How downright pingpingpingpingy of them.

Not an issue, just the way in which there was no prior warning of the cut off dates.

There was a notice for a few weeks prior saying free use would cease soon.

Charging so that personal users will never sign up is bad business.

Nah it's still completely Australian owned. It was acquired by Ipernica in 2008, they changed their name to Nearmap Ltd. and moved offices to Sydney earlier this month. 90% of their existing subscribers renew regularly. A good mate of mine resigned as CFO because he didn't want to move to Sydney with the company.

For a Perth startup, they've done extremely well.
