hey all
on wednesday i picked up my ranger. i have always wanted one since i first drove one in 2007 then in 2008 when i drove one with a dp chip 3inch exhaust snorkel i was hooked and said one day ill have one. Fast forward to this year its a month before my wedding just starting a new job and needing my surf everyday it decided to shit its self. so after talking to a couple people i got it towed to a workshop and it was diagnosed as a timing sensor in the pump and needed to be replaced as well as a full seal kit needing to be done. so $1500 later for rebuild and $500 for install and new coolant and all that shit was ready to go picked it up couple of days later ecu need to be replaced $270 bucks later and 2 days before the wedding it died on me again turned out the problem was a earth wire had dropped of the back of the head giving a weak signal to the pump and ecu so money down the drain when i didnt have to spend it i was so pissed off but put it behind me. The other week i started looking on carsales for a mate who wanted to buy a hilux found him one and that got my mind going is it time for me to upgrade so i had a look at some rangers went and had a look at every xlt pk on the market and was put off by all the ones in car yards. After having a chat to the mrs we worked out a budget and she said she wanted auto because she didnt want to be driving a manual as her and manuals in small cars alone is scary enough i said prob going to be waist of time as they all seem to be in bad condition she said look on gumtree so i did seen all manuals or ones that had been butcherd then fozzy put his up for sales and thats when the argument of manual and auto came into play (sort story i lost) and wasnt even going to waist his time and take her to look at it. then i found a 2011 xlt 17,000km lift kit mick tompson baja a/t tjm snorkel and water proof seat covers and the final thing it was auto and he wanted $34,000 i got excited like a little school girl called the guy and didnt hear anything back from him for couple days and thought well it must be gone and got back to looking for others. later that night i got a phone call from guy saying he worked up north so was hard for him to call we made a time to meet when he got home that weekend to have a look at it. soon as i seen it knew it was myn before i had even driven it took it for a drive with the wife got back asked how much he would take thinking he was going to say 34 was lowest he then said 33 and its myn i didnt even get a second before my wife said we will take it.
so far since having it i have driven 1100 km and cant take the smile off my face took it down south for the day yesterday covering 600km and i am so impressed. with it a few things i need to do tho
space out center bearing to stop the shutter they form when lifting
who ever installed the lift on it was a retard and used the original leaf and shackle bushed so that causes a rough ride out of the rear combined that with the leafs have never had load on them since install the helpers have been used like they should and are just not allowing the leaf to move.
with the front i have to install the shock strengthening kit that was sold to old owner but never installed
its booked in for the tow bar recall and to have the plug fitted on friday ,need to save up coin so i can get it into rob at volitile to work his magic, work out what bull bar option to go,fit some lights up and change main lights over to HID and put a exhaust and chip on it and tour the shit out of it really.
