Guys this is doing my fucking head in, all the piping ive seen for the evos have no egr pipe on the throttle body pipe. Now if i remove and blank it off, will a normal mitsu computer be able to remove the egr system from the ecu or will it have to visit a ralliart dealer? Who would have thought a cooler and pipe swap would be such a fucker

I would assume so as some of the Evos donīt come with the EGR system stock.

To remove the system properly you need to reflash the ECU, this is unlikely something a dealer would do for you but if you find someone friendly with ecuflash and an openport (like me) you can do it.
This references 8-9 but is probably similar on the 7 haven't looked at mine.

Got a photo of the offending pipe?

Its just the intercooler pipe that runs into the throttle body, factory pipe runs a bov outlet and egr outlet. My new pipe has a v band outlet which i assume is for tge tial bov, im running a turbosmart kompact recirc, this whole ordeal has pissed me off

Looking at that, i would rather keep my egr

pretty sure its the SAS that you are referring to? SAS (secondary air system) is the "anti lag" system they had on the cars for homologation.

You can remove that egr valve without needing for tune.
Egr valve only use full when you want to activate antilag system from the stock ecu given that it's been reflashedd to do so.
I've done it on my 7 and my other 7 (had 2). Because both use after market cooler pipe set up that doesn't have egr port build in them. Talked to Sean at all star. No problems at all.
You only need to get the bung bolt to close the hole where the egr pipe use to be on the manifold. And block off the top bit....

999 automotive, so prob china junk. I'm going to hurl it at a bus full of kids.
Should of just saved up for the hdi or greddy kit instead, and yeah looking at it, very much looks like Sas not egr. Either way the more I learn about this car the more I think I own a tractor

So I'm going to keep my SAS, try and sell my top pipe with the V band bov, and try get a cold side pipe made as I didn't even get one in my kit, le sigh.

either remove the SAS or just get a fitting welded onto the new cooler piping.

Lots of threads saying removing SAS brings on the EML, cbf dealing with it, just want my shopping trolley back on the road

Never had problem with SAS bring out EML
Sorry bout the photo, only picture i had for engine shot
as you can see the manifold has 2 bung bolt that closed the holes
i removed all the sas piping and the one that feeds to the inter cooler.

My after market intercooler is HDI ....
the UCIP doesnt come with SAS port for it so i had to remove it.

yarns. probably getting confused with EGR. even if it does I have openport 2.0 so can flash your ecu to remove it.
tbh unless you are changing manifold I would keep it, helps keep turbo spooled up under certain conditions.

Yeah I'll be keeping it, just going to get another port welded onto my pipe I reckon

I made close to 400 with the a stock IX turbo, think Blaise also went through 2 of the 9RS turbos before making the switch. I think there are probably OK at lower boost but once you turn up the wick they can go bang.
