Hi guys, hopping someone could possibly shed some light on this topic, i have done some research but with mixed responses and people ummming and arghing, i have a 1994 toyota hilux 2.8 diesel 4X4 which i am now in the process of putting a turbo on, the clutch isn't too good and i'm assuming it wont last much longer once turbo'd but also my gearbox (G52) is a bit sloppy for my liking also, i recently wrecked a toyota surf and got a R151 gearbox out of it, i was wondering if anyone here has swapped the G52 for a 'R' box, and if they know its a straight swap? because i plan on doing the clutch soon i thought i may aswell try and put the R box in at the same time as it is a much better box!
cheers Jordy

hmm the bell housing should be the same as its the same block from a 2.4 diesel to a 2.8 diesel
im just unsure about the transfer case and little things
but thanks anyways i'll check out perthsurf forums

Pretty sure it will fit if you use the bell housing from the r series box and you will need an adapter to fit a chain driven transfer case. The threads below have some info, probably more on 4wdaction if you do a search.

Edit this one too http://www.4wdaction.com.au/forum/viewtopic.php?f=72&t=134777
transfer doesnt matter. pretty sure bell housing on r series is to deep. what turbo are you putting on it. surf turbo is the go, ct20 and then do either w2a cooler or get an f6 typhoon cooler and front mount it. you can get 20+ psi out them turbos

and yeah mate full setup off the surf onto my hilux so running ct20, as for cooler setup i may do that a bit later but for now no cooler, you can get 20psi yeah but i don't think my old 2.8D will appreciate that haha
