View Full Version : what is this?
anybody know what this does? its a vacume line above sort of where the rear turbo is(1j) please ignore pod location, just found the pipe in the boot lol
was looking around for obvious things wrong and this just snapped in my hand when I moved it.. could it be causing issues? can I bypass the funny circular thing on it as thats whats snapped off inside the hose.

The funny circular thing is possibly a one way valve to allow it to flow only vacuum in one direction and to stop boosted air going through the other way? If so then bypassing it could cause a few issues
*got no idea really though*
If anyone has a replacement for this NOR, also need the t-piece down the bottom. Wristys, cash and Beer will be involved. Need to get the car to kelmscott tomorrow :/

Its a one way valve, universal ones dont go small enough so you need to find one of this car or a simmilar. I know GM do one for about 40 bucks

Camrys run them on the charcoal canister.
I got my last one from auto1 midland for about $4 from a big jar on the counter.
Shouldnt be too hard to track down
ok will head down tonight hopefully and grab one from somwhere
I bypassed it lastnight and replaced the t-piece and connected it all up, actually seemed like the car came on boost alot quicker but still having the same issues
video I posted in the wanted thread showing whats going on:

That's the factory BOV. Just pull it all off and put a blaking plate over the hole in the pipe.

Sounds/looks like spark is breaking down under boost.
Check coilpacks for cracks?
Yeah did lastnight, couple had been repaired and a couple had pre-rounded screws and I opted not to try and get them out. found one with a hairline crack but not sure how this arcs when they have a rubber boot over them?
anyway used eletrical tape and bodged it up. took car to cruise and was running like shit, then after about an hour it ran flawless until probably 30 minutes before we left and it started missing badly.. turns out the fuel guage is a bit off. OOPS

Did you replace the number plate light? Jap warning text isn't showing up any more?
