started getting a rattle from the front (side) of my engine yesterday. Intake side, in the area of the injectors/valves
It started after I swapped over a factory pipe connector to a silicon one, between the MAF and the turbo inlet pipe. I thought it might be possible that a tiny piece of silicon got into the pipe and then sucked in (but I was very careful to keep it clean so unlikely). But if that managed to get through the impeller without fucking it, and then managed to get through the FMIC all the way to the valves I'd be surprised.
gets louder with acceleration
doesn't happen if not under load, i.e. revving in drive way
doesn't sound particularly 'in time', as in there's no specific beat (cylinders firing or anything)
more like a rattle, someone shaking ball bearings or something.
almost sounds like lifter noise, but way louder, and there's plenty of oil. And again, no timing to it. just random rattling :S
any ideas ??
