Anyone have expierence with them?
Looking at bose or beats by dre, are they worth the fortune they cost?

i have a problem with Beats By Dre, who the fuck makes them?
Has Dre set up his own high end driver factory to make headphones? are they made by a more reputable company and rebranded or are they just chinese specials with a bullshit price tag but its a hip thing to have a set wrapped around your skull.

Beats by dre owned and made by HTC was bought from Dre a while back now. Kaaarrrnnntt got richer from that deal.
Got sennheiser earbuds, which i quite like, but their noise cancelling headphones dont have many reviews.

I've got Beats Studio headphones. They're actually made by Monster. HTC is just a part owner of the Beats label, they don't make them though.
It depends on what you're after... They're not something that a pure audiophile anal person would go for, however they fucking hammer! They got very deep bass, probably the most I've heard in any headphones (hence the Beats name right?), and they can be very very loud, up to pain level, and still get no distortion.
They're not the headphones I'd use to listen to Mozart, but they're perfect for R&B, rap, EDM, radio commercial shit, practically all modern stuff there is...
Are they worth $500? I dunno, I bought them in Spain for half that few months ago. For what I paid, they're worth every penny. If I was to pay $500, I'd still be willing to pay that, provided I checked out every other set of headphones in that price range.
One thing's for sure, you'll never go back to shitty ear buds ever again...

beats by dre headphones and earphones are no where near worth the money you pay for them when you compare them to what else is on the market.

Oh, and as far as batteries go (2x AAA), they last for ages. I use my headphones for about three hours a day, and when I bought them back in early August, I used them continously on my flight for the 18 hours from Europe. I had to change my batteries for the first time about two weeks ago...

I've got some Sony's, much better then .Dre and 1/4 the cost.
Batterys are a pain though. If they make a rechargable version I would be looking at those.

In 2008 Monster Cable were contracted for 5 years to design and manufacture 'Beats by Dre', That contract ends at the end of this year and apparently will not be renewed.
So currently, Monster Cable produce all 'Beats' products.. From next year, Who knows..

I got my Studio's for substatially less from Amazon. The noise cancelling for the Beats works well in the sense that you can't hear a thing around you, but if you're watching porn on the bus for whatever reason, everyone will know it. They leak A LOT. In saying that, they're pretty awesome for the music I listen to (rap, rock etc).

I have the Audio-Technica quiet-point noise cancelling headphones, listened to bose and few other sets, the AT's were def the best value, think I paid $200ish from headphonics few years ago. NC is great for plane flights, but everyones says if you don't NEED noise cancelling you can get much better audio-quality for the same price

I have Audio Technica ATH-ANC7B. They are an over ear headphone. I have used them on over 40 hours of flying on a single AAA battery. They have excellent noise reduction and the audio is pretty good. You should get them to your door for less than $200. They may not be as great as the $450 set of bose, but for the price they are an great product.
I also have an $80 pair of Phillips that I picked up for the wife, which are far better than normal headphones on an airplane or train, but still no where near as nice as the Audio technica.
Pioneer Hdj or sennheizers (quality control on the sennheizers can be dodgy)

Tried a mates Beats by Dre and then tried another guys Bose ones straight after off my mobile phone cranked on pretty high volumes, and the noise cancelling and bass in the Bose headphones outperformed the beats by dre ones a fair bit, but they cost an extra 100-200 apparently

I got these with my QANTAS frequent flyer points. They are by far the most comfortable and best noise reduction headphones I have ever worn. A few of the boys have the BOSE and whilst they are still very good these are just that little bit better IMO.

I have a set of these, after trying about 15 different pairs. I fly a fair bit for work...

They were by far the best at noise cancelling, with the best sound I could find for under $500 at the time. They were not as loud as some(as above Beats were probably the loudest) but they turn a flight into nothing more than a drive on the freeway*.
*I mean cruising on the freeway in my audi, most likely ALOT quieter than 90% of the cars on here when cruising.

They are not noise cancelling but I can't hear shit over them. Only problem I find is using them in the office, if you have them loud enough everyone can hear everything anyway from them.
Cheapy noise cancelling ones I had before that worked well (and still use) are Philips, cost me $50 from Harvey's on special. Model SBC HN110 if I am not mistaken, probably replaced with a newer model by now...

Which Beats were they? Anything under Studio is shit to be honest. And anything above is overpriced lol (i.e.Pro, can get DJ spec awesomeness for near that price)
I find try before you buy is the best. Go to a shop where they got them all lined up foryou to plug your phone into. Best way to get exactly what you like.

I got a set of Dr Dre Beats Studio for travelling mainly - does what I need it to do, sound is good. And most importantly, they are actually comfortable to wear.

I have the Audio Technica AD700 along with a Asus sound card on my comp
Put them on high and you wont be able to hear a bomb go off in your house...
I also play games like BF3 with no sound lol, makes me play better.... :S

Sound is unfortunately a very subjective thing. To me, the Beats headphones are some of the worst I've ever heard. Large amounts of overwhelming bass combined with very poor clarity. Reminds me of a car stereo with a stock headunit and 2 subwoofers. They are incredibly popular due to being fashionable and having silly levels of bass.
Also, why do you want noise cancelling headphones?
If it's just for airplane use or something else with a lot of ambient noise, you're better off choosing a headphone / earbud with very high isolation levels.
Granted I only use earbuds so all my experience is based on them, but in almost every case (that I've tried) the active noise cancelling earbuds aren't any better at preventing outside noise than a good set of earbuds with the correctly sized FOAM tip.
I went looking for a set of noise cancelling earbuds about 2 months ago, and instead came home with these:
http://www.sony.com.au/product/xba-3
With the right tips on them (lots provided) they sound INCREDIBLE and block out almost all ambient noise.

Where? All I can see is reviews written by them for headphones they are trying to sell.
Be VERY careful of headphone review sites which also allow you to purchase the headphones from them. Usually they will only review the headphones that they can purchase (so, whoever they have accounts with) and every headphone will be on a scale of "good to awesome", instead of "terrible to awesome" like it should be.

If you like bass and are cheap, just get some Sennheiser CX 300-ii and wack on some comply tips.
A good seal will block most ambient noise and more importantly, leak out a *lot* less.
You could always head into their store in Leederville and try almost all their headphones, you really have to hear it for yourself.
Sound is one of those thing that's hard to review.. its personal preference.
Their forums may also help ?

These are the earbuds i have, i like them but wanted something for planes. I havent been able to find definitive answers to weather noise cancelling actually protects hearing, or does the same damage you just dont hear it.
I know that the earbuds that block would probably be the best protection, so still trying to make the decision whether its worth spending the money.

I bought the sony ones listed on this page and tested them out on a flight to the east and they work great for the price.
Turned the rumble of the engines into a very slight hum without any sound on and with the sound on couldnt really hear the engines at all.
They wont win any SQ contests but they did the job well (was only watching tv and movies anyway)
