Youtube Downloader Help Please

I've searched the forum and the interweb without much luck...have even tried torrents and hacked software - need something quick/easy to install (not web based) to download youtube videos

can anyone recommend anything that fits the above criteria?

not opposed to torrents if needs be but IE/chrome extensions would work too

Curious - why not web-based? There's a couple out there that work fine. I use KeepVid personally.

Or is this for redtube and you don't want them knowing what you're in to?

thanks guys...for my uncles PC - i think he is using it for instructional guitar stuff

ill give him the above options although i think i have managed to download something and crack it

I use FVD Downloader, but with Firefox use RealPlayer (it pops up a little tab as soon as the video starts playing and lets me download).

I use that - super simple, and can convert to any format from within the app.
