A change of government in the NT should see the return of // in areas. The DLP took it to the people if they were elected open limits would come back.
So, who's up for a drive to the NT?

Would be great if it happened. Everyone should experience it.
I moved away from Darwin less than a month after they brought in the speed limits on the major highways at the beginning of 2007 in protest.

I moved from Darwin about 6 months before the limits were brought in.
I was once driving from Darwin to Tennant creek and just after i passed through Batchelor there was a little bit of debris on the road, few small twigs and leaves, hit a small bit of wood and popped a sidewall on the drivers side front of my VR Commodore at about 160ish kmph. Steering swayed me into the right lane and managed to wrestle it back quickly, so lucky there wasnt any oncoming traffic.
Also remember reading about the bloke on a bike hitting a water cart turning into Berry Springs, the cart crossed the road slowly, bike is humming at around an estimated 260km, came over a slight crest and no time to react. Rear end of the water cart was wiped out.
About time they brought the open limit back in, the death toll up there didnt go down with the limits being introduced because of all the backpackers from europe and japan being used to driving 70kmph and for 20 mins at a time.

screw berry spring...the cop there is a prick.
Stopped me for 2kms over the limit is a school zone. that was his excuse..... he really wanted to do a road worthy on the caravan i was towing because I was interstate plates and he reckons they never are road worthy when they come from WA. Van was 3 months old. car was fine too. he remains a prick that couldnt find a problem with my gear
Coming from WA and crossing the border....i had to take a picture of the 130 limit signs....had never seen one.
