after recomendations, trying to sort exhaust for my range rover with an ls1 in it.

it has headers, need from there back, 2 into 1, nothing special, mild steel with a couple of joints so it can be removed.

have been to 2 places, they are throwing the term 'custom' round like i`ve walked into west coast customs.

just after someone that is willing to make an exhaust, rather than loop out that it isnt a bolt in system off the shelf. but also understand that its a budget build.

i used him with the FG ... he did some "quick fixes" with my car at first, and cutout some mufflers etc and fitted/supplied the varex.
was $550 for middle muffler cut out and bends welded in + varex supplied and fitted

big Kev at Mettams Belmont (behind repco) did some patch ups on my rangie when i worked next door, didnt even want to take the carton i offered him. just make sure you specify that you want joints in it. mine doesnt have any from the front merge back, made doing a gearbox real interesting.

Have sorted an exhaust joint, the place fryer suggested was the cheapest at 550 base price than a bit more for flanges an shit but a bit far for me to go during work. Ended up at Melville muffler and brake, guy was familiar with rangie's and not that far away. Rang him Thursday and he said have it here in the morning and you can have it back before the weekend. Did a ripper job, all up was 800 which I think is reasonable.

Genie Exhaust in Myaree, had my exhaust done by them, HIGHLY RECCOMENDED, no job is too big for them, Custom stuff is no problem, Did my 3" into Twin 2.5" Pipes with Mufflers near Diff to keep things quiet
then merging back into 3".... Flow and Power and Good note. I went to these guys to fix my system after having a extremely bad job done ever on my cars at a Carline place up NOR.

The First place that did the Exhaust who ripped me off by not giving me the type of exhaust I wanted,
or second place that did a awesome job?

First Place Charged $845, This was CARLINE GRAPNEL MUFFLERS BALCATTA, I asked for a twin tip Magnaflow muffler in the rear, Mild Steel Piping, Mandrel Bent and also asked for a Muffler behind the Diff as there was heaps of room as I asked them to make it as quiet as possible
but using straight through mufflers. After asking to keep it as quiet as possible, They said to just put a resonator instead of a muffler that i asked. Kept assuring me that it wont be loud so i trusted he knew what he was doing. Exhaust sounded like junk when I got it back, drony as, welding splatter all over the chrome tips as they didn't bother to cover the tips up to protect them. I found Press
bends when I specifically asked for Mandrel only everywhere.

2nd Place charged $660 to remove the resonator and make the 3" from the cat back to split into twin 2.5" pipes, each pipe had it's own muffler and then merging back into 3" to the existing Magnaflow muffler in there, all flanged up too,
Single 3" muffler would have made it sound great and kept quiet too but I went with Twin just in case. Great work and they kept it nice and tucked up to the body, brackets everywhere to keep it secure too.

Great Mufflers and the place looked after my car well.

Can't say the same for Carline Grapnel Mufflers in Balcatta, unfortunately my Experience with them has been bad.
When somebody can't take the care to shield/protect the tips from welding splatter, I would not recommend anybody go there from personal experience.


Mettams Morley are Great, Recommended and have done lots of Turbo cars before.
Dom at Prestige Exhaust does top notch work too.

I'm not surprised that their poor quality work still gets around.
This goes as a reminder, just be cautious wherever you go guys, do a bit of research.

You'd think that apparently 20+ Years of experience would know to use the proper paint and not to lay it on like no tommorow
but wait that would be just using too much common sense

Surprisingly, when I rang up and told them I showed their work to a few exhaust places (Just to get some advice on if everything was ok on the car)...... the shop owner was very angry that
I showed his work to other people, furious actually. Why would he be angry for me to show his work to other places ???

Need to get an exhaust made up for a 67 impala and don't particularly want to pay crack prices because its not a standard sized car.

Yep Pat at Mettams Morley is a Legend, I got my dump pipe on my Soarer linked to the rest of the exhaust, did a good job and made everything line up and cleared all the mounts and gearbox A++, First choice for anyone needing any work done NOR, first place to goto.
