I have recently finished rebuilding my engine and have noticed that the alternator is not charging the battery below 3000RPM. I have also noticed that my GTST does not have the Battery Light on, on the dashboard when the key is in the accessories position. I am aware that in some cars, the Globe forms part of the alternator exciter circuit.
Is this the case with the R33?
If this is the case simply replacing the globe ought to restore the exciter circuit.
Anyone have any experience with this.
Thank you in advance

Alternator fucked, not worth the effort to fix contacts as its a sealed unit.
Either get one off a lowish K import or get it rebuilt.
Replacing globe won't do dick
Plug on back of alternator will have 2 terminals. One is Ignition 12V (Sense) and the other Light. Earth the Light terminal with ignition on, your battery warning light should illuminate.
If it does illuminate, problem with Alternator. If it doesn't, problem with warning light circuit.

Thanks hako,
I will check this soon, if there is a problem with the light circuit will that cause the alternator to stop charging?
In the meantime I will obtain a new alternator

Yep, particularly how you have described, having to rev engine to make it charge. Could still be an Alt problem though.

Thanks,
I will postpone getting a new alternator until I have found out why the Battery Globe is not functioning.
Thanks again for your help
