Hi, I'm a 6th year law student, wondering if anyone here has a contact in the legal industry. I'm looking to get some work in during my last semester, can't comment on my timetable for next semester yet, but would be looking for 2 days/week. It's a fairly oversaturated market and anything I could do that might improve my employability at the end of my degree would be great haha. That and earn some money, of course.

I have mid-credit marks overall, with distinction average over last 18 months, one prior vacation clerkship with boutique commercial firm. I'm a motivated employee and not a complete tosser, so those might be some good points too. Interested in any work for law firms or a public sector casual job to suit law graduate (probably thin on the ground).

Thanks for any help guys.

Double degree in Law/Commerce is a standard 6 year course without overloading. If you overload every semester for 4 years, you can get it done in 5. Didn't really feel like spending all that time overloading!

If on the other hand you mean why haven't I had more work experience or something, I've worked 3 days a week since first year!

I agree with the above posts.

Also, I would recommend applying to any position that is related to law – including volunteer work at CLCs, various advocacy organisations etc.

I also recommend checking your law society website for various opportunities and other law schools' websites too!
