So I'm sitting in traffic at the lights behind a taxi and a truck travelling in the opposite direction stops and indicates to go into the driveway in front of the taxi. The taxi puts it in reverse and starts coming back, I hit the horn but the dumb pingpingpingping keeps going and hits my car. He gets out and says theres no damage. I look and the paint is scuffed and chipped down to the plastic and the paint has cracks through it where the bumper flexed. I said there is damage give me your details. He says again no damage. I say OK Im calling the Police. NEK MINNIT this tripper then jumps in his taxi drops D and spins the wheels and Im thinking what the fuck? He doesnt make the green so I pull up next to him and start taking pics of him then get out and take pics of his car rego etc.
Im thinking hes either an illegal immigrant, no taxi license, no normal license or hes got a warrant or something. Was an old European looking and sounding guy.

Sounds like you have enough info to ping him.. In my experience the taxi companies hate this sort of behaviour from their drivers if you gave them the times etc they will prolly help you out.

if you have the taxi plate number the taxi company will normally release their details.
if not leave details with your insurance and go lodge a police report- he has left the scene of an accident ;) the guy will be found..
edit: call up taxi company in a few days and ask for taxi nmber xxxx to collect you as he was very nice :) he arrives at location... HELLO...

Yeah I took photos of his plates. I rang the number on the taxi they put me through to the supervisor who said lodge it with the Police. I might lodge on that web page linked above as well to be a pingpingpingping.

Can see cameras on the side of the taxi, maybe the police can ask for a copy of the footage before they go missing.

Front of your car, was touched by the rear of his = you're fault... or is that another internet story?
Hope he isn't a pingpingpingping about it, if he hasn't fled already

If you can get the camera footage it would show the taxi reversing, maybe even a possible distortion as he hits your car. Failing that, a witness would be good, but the fact he attempted to avoid you after the incident is just as good at proving he's at fault. Might just take some time to wrap it up if the company plays hard ball.
Taxi's are the worst for dealing with when it comes to claims. One I dealt with last year involved a similar thing - taxi reversed, hit my client's front end, and then he/taxi company fought to prove that's why his exhaust fell off and rear shock was damaged.

Although in my case the taxi driver ran into the back of me so he had no way out of it. Bet you anything that this prick will say you ran into the back of him and he will get off it

Yeah good luck getting the footage probably need some court action just to get the vision which may not even show it...
Lodge police report, lodge claim with insurance company and kiss your excess goodbye (probably, 75% chance of not getting it back)

He reversed into me = his fault.
There is some bullshit, think it's US ("...another internet story?") so not sure if it applies here, whereby the rear vehicle is at fault.
So if some numpty stalls on a hill start and rolls back in to you, then it's the rear cars fault for being too close... or some BS like that...
And LOL at grammar nazi above... What's more annoying than a taxi driver? A Volvo driver...

Doesn't need to show the crash, if it's looking out the side it will show him stopped, than moving backwards, so quite obviously reversing, and than you'll hear some noise/see some distortion. Sue the pingpingpingping, happy days.

Do you mean like if you get rear ended, and then hit the car in front? If so then yes you are responsible for them
A similar situation to this was my mum, some dopey bitch in a 4wd stopped in the middle of the road during a bulk rubbish collection period, must have seen something to look at & put it in reverse, also completely oblivious to a few seconds of a horn as they got closer and closer to my mums car which was stopped behind her wondering what the hell she was doing. My mum didn't have to pay anything, Ricey shouldn't either even if he does try to claim his taxi was rear ended, the pics, calls and reports should show enough that Vlad will probably just own up before it gets difficult

Don't taxis have a security camera at the top of the A-pillar with view of the whole cab?
If they do, can you demand that footage ?
Either owns up to it, or it mysteriously went missing.
Also that truck that he reversed to make room for, that's your witness.
If that driveway is for a business of some kind, and you can remember what the truck/driver looked like, go ask staff in their dispatch/receivals area if they can give you some contact details?
At the end of the day I agree it was a wanker move by the taxi driver and not your fault, but in the grand sceme of things is it really worth all your time and effort pursuing it?

Even if you never get looked after for the damage at last can lodge endless sexual assault claims, drug possession claims to crime stoppers anonymously and complaints about the guy short changing you on journeys with his taxi info..

And that's why I have these in my cars:

They are small enough to fit in front of the RV mirror with only a small amount protruding below. The video quality is not that bad either.

As much as im all down with violence , end of the day you will still have a filthy bill to pay the dog.
I know this taxi driver,
a while back my parents took my little brother and his girlfriend out to a fundraser and they didnt get home till late, she was to get in a taxi home at about 12. Being the overly concerned type of people my parents are they told my brother to go out and ask for the taxis details before she left with him (she is only 14).
He jumped out screaming at my brother "IM NO FUCKING AUSSIE RAPIST YOU FUCK" over and over, until my dad came out and he continued to swear, shout, etc etc told my dad he would be back for him just as I came out the house (lucky i was there visiting) I was charging over to him as he was getting back in his taxi and I had a few words with him, loudly with lots of finger pointing. The guy is a fuckwit.
