Very hard to get any kind of decent cash for second hand jewellery. Might be worth taking what she has and getting it melted down and remade into something else she likes?? Could be better then feeling ripped off and walking away with less money then you think the stuff is worth. Otherwise just take what you can get pretty much.

There is a joint in freo that gives ok money for scrap gold. They say they will beat the perth mint buy price by 5%
They dont care if its goldmark shit or cartier/faberge bling, it all gets melted down and they wont pay any extra for stones (better off removing them yourself if there are any)
Todays prices from the freo joint.
JM Cash N Gold Services
24 kt .999 $43.31 per gram
22 kt .916 $39.67 per gram
18 kt .750 $32.48 per gram
14 kt .585 $25.33 per gram
9 kt .375 $16.24 per gram

Not very. Certs mean shit when selling. Certs are only useful for insurance purposes.

Sell or take to jeweler and have gold melted down and make something from them, reuse diamonds

If a ring is valued at say 10k i would think you would be lucky to get 2-3k in private sale, maybe 500 bucks from cashies.
If the jewellery means nothing and are not worth very much, i would just scrap them for gold value. It saves hassles and any potential secureity issues with selling to people over the paper/net.
If they are big dollar rings i would list on ebay or put them into a decent jewellery auction.

I'd give ebay a bash first.
Gold value in 3 rings would be very minimal. The diamonds would be almost worthless as loose stones if the total rings value are 7k.
Smash them up on ebay with a photo of the cert/valuation, never know your luck.

Cheers man, will see what she says.. She'll probably be happier just getting rid of them, I could see what they offer and chuck them up for sale on here for a few days see if anyone wants them.
My mum sell her old jewellery everytime shes Singapore and buy all hers from there too
gets a better rate too iirc

Great present for someone else - clean them, make them look new - never know who's godfather you'll become?
Mrs in same boat... melting down or using them as presents seems likely.

As others have said, valuations mean nothing. Jewlery and Diamonds are a crooks game, for a highly valued comodity they have very little resale value. If the diamonds are something quite special or you have GIA or EGL certs for them then you can use something like diamond exchange to get an idea of what they might be worth but you will have an uphill battle trying to sell them unfortunately.

Whats a 1k?
Perth Mint gives good rates.. otherwise hit up Stelios Jewellers in Murray St Perth, he gives killer rates on your old gold if he's using it to make new jewellery for you.
