Who's got it, and who do you recomend, costs etc, and what does it cover, job loss, illness etc..
Thinking its a good idea seeing as I now own a house, and I've already been stung once in GFC 1, if theres a v2 I'd like to be prepared..

Only covers inability to work due to medical reasons - not redundancy / job loss.
Cost depends on waiting period, medical history, length of cover, sum insured, etc, etc, etc, i.e. can vary significantly!

This was my understanding too. Most larger companies will offer that as part of a remuneration package.

After being off work for the since September due to a car crash. I would say it is a good idea. Being young, it never crossed my mind to even look in to getting this. Otherwise if you qualify you can get roughly $490 a fortnight from sickness benefit
for injury look at combined insurance. i was on top cover for my income cost 4k a year had 2 years off with compressed neck 2 farked shoulders broken wrist and ankle wheelchair for 3 months. recieved 130k a year before tax. if it wasnt for that i would be bankrupt.

So no options if I lose my job? Bugger. Still be looking into it as I'd be dumb not to. But was hoping there was an option that covered job loss.
